Wendy Weiner

Now retired, Wendy L. Weiner excelled as a teacher with Milwaukee Public Schools for 25 years until 2012. Working in a primarily poverty-stricken community, she dedicated her life to the children of the inner city by not only providing them with an effective education, but also with a safe and loving environment. Additionally, Ms. Weiner established her own business in 1990 as the owner of W.L.W. Presentations.

Ms. Weiner became involved in her profession because at first, she did not know she would be an educator, but she did know from the experiences she had as a student that she wanted to make a better educational system for children. Although she did not have the best educational experience with the students around her, she had a wonderful educational experience with the teachers. Ms. Weiner experienced teachers who were kind and caring.

A talented writer, Ms. Weiner has contributed a tremendous amount of time in supporting various educational publications. She has also served as both a writer and publisher of various curriculum guides and revisions, classroom science and mathematics guides, among other works. Ms. Weiner has written and hosted various workshops as well, such as “Aerospace Education for Elementary Educators.”

Affiliated with Scholastic News, a student magazine which engages students, builds nonfiction-reading skills and increases content-area knowledge, Ms. Weiner continued her career as a member of the teacher advisory board between 2005 and 2008. She also worked with the Milwaukee Public Museum, for which she served as the president and founder of the teacher advisory board. Ms. Weiner has worked on numerous committees, including the Community Alliance Committee, and has lent her time and expertise as an exhibit coordinator for the State Science Convention of Milwaukee.

An alumnus of the University of Wisconsin, Ms. Weiner received an Associate of Arts, a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science, the latter of which she attained in 1993. She holds a principal license, is certified as a teacher in the state of Wisconsin and holds certification through the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. Among her professional memberships, Ms. Weiner has been active with the Wisconsin Elementary Science Teachers Society of Presidential Awardees, the Wisconsin Association of School Administrators and the Milwaukee Kindergarten Association. She has been a member and local leader of the National Science Teachers Association since 1995.

Recognized with numerous awards for her teaching career, Ms. Weiner was more recently named Wisconsin Teacher of the Year in Agricultural Education in 2007. She also received a USDA Agriculture in National Education Excellence Award in 2008. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Weiner has been showcased in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education and Who’s Who in the Midwest.
