Although the bill did not pass, Ms. Schmidt’s determination led her to obtain her realtor’s license in Hawaii.

As the real estate market rebounded, Ms. Schmidt was approached by several agencies but ultimately chose to support a small business owner whose family was facing medical challenges. This decision, rooted in compassion and a sense of duty, resulted in five years of valuable experience and set the foundation for her ongoing success in the industry.

Throughout her tenure at eXp Realty, Ms. Schmidt has demonstrated exceptional skill and leadership, garnering recognition as a Top 10 Producer for the State of Hawaii in 2025. Prior to her real estate career, Ms. Schmidt dedicated 35 years to education as a teacher with the Denali Borough School District between 1973 and 2008. She also served as an invited designee for teaching programs in Japan and Korea, further broadening her influence and cross-cultural understanding. She co-founded the Denali Arts & Humanities Alliance and volunteered with Aloha Theater, fostering cultural enrichment within her communities. As publisher of Denali Summer Times for 14 years, she provided a platform for local voices and creative expression. Her achievements have been recognized through numerous honors, including Fulbright Hayes Scholar awards for study in the Czech Republic and Brazil, a Fulbright Memorial Scholar designation for study in Japan and the Denali Borough Arts Award.
