Shasta R. Van Sickle, MMS, PA-C, is the owner and lead physician assistant at Remedi Health in Golden, Colorado. With a Master of Medical Science in physician assistant studies from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a bachelor’s degree in pre-medicine from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Ms. Van Sickle has built a career grounded in academic rigor and clinical expertise. Certified as a physician assistant and as a national medical examiner through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, she brings a diverse skill set to her health care practice.
Ms. Van Sickle founded Remedi Health in 2023 to address gaps in women’s health within Western medicine. Drawing from her personal experiences as a patient, along with those of her friends and mother, she felt compelled to focus on preventative care, particularly for women navigating pre-menopause and menopause. Her passion for empowering women through better health care drives her mission. She also provides care for male patients, addressing concerns such as low testosterone and cardiac issues, underscoring her commitment to holistic health care.
At Remedi Health, Ms. Van Sickle manages all aspects of the business, from staff supervision to payroll and inventory management, while prioritizing high-quality patient care. She takes pride in ensuring that 85% to 90% of her patients, many of whom are women, feel heard and understood during their appointments. Her approach includes ordering labs and imaging to make medications more affordable and educating patients on conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome. Her dedication extends to mentoring her team, choosing staff members who share her commitment to excellence and collaboration.
Ms. Van Sickle’s journey to health care entrepreneurship began with a robust clinical career spanning nearly two decades. She has served as a lead non-operative advanced practice provider at Panorama Orthopedics & Spine Center and held roles in urgent care, physical medicine, rehabilitation, and spine surgery. These experiences sharpened her expertise in functional medicine, emergency medicine, and advanced cardiac life support, preparing her to launch her practice with confidence. Her path also included administrative roles, where she honed leadership skills critical to her success as a business owner.
Opening her own practice was a natural extension of Ms. Van Sickle’s entrepreneurial spirit and faith in her abilities. She credits her strong self-discipline, passion for helping others, and unwavering faith in God as the cornerstones of her success. Her practice has grown steadily, adding five to ten new patients weekly, many of whom are young adults between the ages of 19 and 25. This growth reflects a growing awareness among young people about the importance of proactive health care, and Ms. Van Sickle is pleased to provide the support they seek. Ms. Van Sickle plans to expand Remedi Health by recruiting additional providers and extending services to more patients. Her long-term vision includes establishing a comprehensive women’s health center featuring a nutritionist, health coach, and other resources to support women through all stages of life. Whether this vision takes the form of a single large facility or multiple smaller centers, she remains committed to maintaining the high quality of care that defines her practice. Ultimately, she aims to create a legacy for her children or a like-minded successor to continue her work.
Ms. Van Sickle’s commitment to women’s health is deeply personal and professional. She actively advocates for mental health care, recognizing its intersection with hormonal imbalances and the profound impact it has on patients’ lives. Her greatest joy comes from witnessing her patients improve, often expressing heartfelt gratitude for the treatment they receive. The ability to help individuals reclaim their sense of normalcy and well-being drives her to continually innovate and advocate for better care. Her journey to founding Remedi Health also highlights the importance of mentorship and divine timing in her career. Ms. Van Sickle first connected with the previous owner of her practice while collaborating at another company a decade earlier. When she approached him in 2020 for guidance on opening her own practice, he was nearing retirement and offered to sell her the business. She viewed this opportunity as a sign to step into her role as an owner and has since dedicated herself to building a practice that reflects her values.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Ms. Van Sickle enjoys skiing, hiking, and biking, often spending time with her children in Colorado’s scenic outdoors. Her family plays a central role in her life, and her daughter inspires her work to ensure future generations face fewer challenges in accessing quality health care. Her husband, Scott, a financial advisor, supports her endeavors, offering a complementary perspective on her business operations. Ms. Van Sickle sets herself apart through her fearless approach to leadership. Whether she is advocating for her patients or navigating a room where she is the only woman at the table, she inspires others to speak up and pursue their goals. Her work at Remedi Health exemplifies her belief in the power of perseverance, faith, and dedication to making a meaningful impact in her community.
