JEANNETTE WYATT

Jeannette Wyatt

Attributing much of her success to her tenacity and her desire to excel, Jeannette Wyatt first earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication, magna cum laude, from the University of California Los Angeles in 1991. Then joining the University of Southern California, she completed a Master of Arts in communications from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism in 1994. She began her career in 1993 in the accounts payable department of Internal & External Communications, a company founded by Alexandra Rand, who became Ms. Wyatt’s most influential and inspiring mentor. Quickly rising to become the director of marketing and business, she was responsible for the company’s presence at trade shows and other events, offering program demos and doing public relations and outreach. During this period, she nominated the company and Ms. Rand for several awards, leading the company to twice be named among the 100 Fastest Growing Companies and Ms. Rand to be presented with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Ms. Wyatt furthered her studies by completing coursework in the University of Southern California’s management development program in 1998 before she left Internal & External Communications in 2000. She briefly served as the director of marketing communications and business services for XDrive Technologies Inc. and as a marketing and public relations consultant for Digital Lava Inc. between 2000 and 2001 before joining the AmerisourceBergen Corporation as the director of marketing and health systems from 2001 to 2005. In 2005, Ms. Wyatt began her tenure with The US Oncology Network and McKesson Specialty Health, where she remained until 2014, as a regional director of practice marketing, rising to national director of practice marketing in 2009.

In 2010, Ms. Wyatt joined Wyatt Management in The Woodlands, Texas, a construction contracting company founded by Timothy O. Wyatt, her now husband, in 1998. She first met him in 2008, a time when the company was struggling considerably due to the Great Recession. Bringing to the company her significant expertise in marketing and business development and promotion, her duties as chief executive officer and chief marketing officer include not only crafting their marketing communications materials, but also close work with the company’s chief financial officer, social media management, and providing various resources to prospective clients. Ms. Wyatt has helped the company grow from $3 million in revenue to $30 million in 2021, with an even higher projection for 2022.

Wyatt Management is also notable for its adoption of Lean Building principles, a Six Sigma approach typically used by much larger construction companies. Modifying the process to work better for a mid-sized contractor, their modified methodology is known as BuildBETTER and Ms. Wyatt has developed the Lean Mean Building Team as well, a playbook for training supervisors in the use of these new methods. This playbook is frequently used as a marketing tool to help clients better understand their processes and how they work. With Wyatt Management’s main focus being retail and restaurant companies, their clients include a number of well-known businesses, such as Chipotle, Dutch Bros Coffee, McDonald’s, Jiffy Lube, Shake Shack and more. They are currently bidding on a contract with In-N-Out Burger for a new restaurant location coming to their area.

Standing out in her field for her skill in networking and client promotion, Ms. Wyatt has excelled as a woman in a very male dominated industry. Early on, she was inducted into The Phi Beta Kappa Society for her academic excellence and has gone on to receive a number of other honors and accolades. In 2021, she was nominated for the Women Who Mean Business Award by the Houston Business Journal and named among the 10 Most Successful Chief Marketing Officers of 2021 by the C Level Focus Leaders That Matter online magazine as well as a Marquis Who’s Who Top Professional. More recently, she was featured among the Top 100 Marketing Executives of 2022 by Alumni Spotlight.

Looking toward the future, Ms. Wyatt intends to continue focusing on her passion for marketing and providing mentorship to young and aspiring professionals. Advising that if you have a passion for marketing you can apply that to any industry, she was recently invited to share her expertise at a Zoom mentoring session with the Houston Business Journal. Furthermore, she hopes to be able to give more back to her community in the coming years as well. Ms. Wyatt was previously involved with the Alliance for Children and Ministry of Light and currently operates Cause for Paws, which is the fundraising effort for the Friends for Life animal shelter that they run through Wyatt Management.
