Who's Who of Professional Women

JEAN E. PERRY

Drawn to the field of communications following her experiences in her high school debate classes, Jean E. Perry joined the University of Southern California, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in speech communication in 1974 and a Master of Arts in speech communication in 1975, also minoring in business and English. She began her career as an adjunct instructor in speech communication with Glendale Community College in 1975 and rose to the rank of full professor by 1991. During this time, Ms. Perry also contributed her skills to Rockwell Automation, Inc. as a public relations specialist and communication consultant and to Security Pacific National Bank as a communication consultant.

In 1999, Ms. Perry was appointed as division chair of language arts at Glendale Community College, something she cites as one of her greatest achievements. She is also incredibly proud of coaching the forensics team that won the 2007 national tournament at the National Forensic Association and to have been invited back to teach as a visiting professor at her alma mater, the University of Southern California. In additional to her career in communications, Ms. Perry is also an accomplished real estate professional, and spent 30 years as the owner of Perry Management in California, starting in 1982, before moving her business to North Carolina. Her duties as a realtor include buying, selling and rehabilitating properties, such as apartment buildings and historic properties.

Attributing much of her success to hard work, determination and persistence, Ms. Perry’s plans for the future include continuing her ongoing work in real estate and expanding her business. In order to keep abreast of developments in her field, she has maintained professional affiliation with the National Forensic Association, the National Communication Association, the California Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. For her excellence, Ms. Perry has previously been recognized as Teacher of the Year by Glendale Community College.
