JEAN E. HOOK

Jean Hook

An acclaimed industry professional with many years of experience to her credit, Jean E. Hook serves as a writer and an editor for the Boeing Company. During the previous two decades, she honed her professional expertise as a teacher of programming languages. Over the years, Ms. Hook also worked as a member of the Atlas Launch Team at Lockheed Martin, where she was one of 250 people worldwide and among only eight women selected to serve.

Requested by Boeing to work on a proposal in Huntington Beach, California, which remains a highlight of her career, Ms. Hook subsequently collaborated with colleagues to learn aspects of the field of which she was not previously familiar in order to finish the proposal. In the aforementioned project, her team completed their assignment successfully within three weeks. Furthermore, Ms. Hook retains her professional alignment with Boeing Women in Leadership, the Employee Community Fund, the Association of Proposal Management Professionals and AMAC.

In the early 1970s, Ms. Hook obtained a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and Spanish from Marion College. Subsequently, she earned a Master of Education from Ball State University. Dedicated to her community, Ms. Hook consistently donates blood, being a three-gallon blood donor, and remains active with Goodwill.

For her professional achievements, Boeing honored Ms. Hook in 2019 for her exemplary work in Boeing’s Space and Defense Systems and Security. While teaching in college, she was also recognized on numerous occasions for being one of the best teachers in Indiana. Looking toward the future, Ms. Hook aims to enter a well-deserved retirement and relocate to Florida.

Ms. Hook’s motto comes from John 15:14 – “You are my friends, if you do whatsoever I command you.” She believes if you want a friend, you need to be a friend. Ms. Hook’s older son is an executive chef and her younger son is working toward a PhD in astrophysics.
