Becoming involved in her profession because of her experience overseas, Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt started her career as an American Red Cross social worker at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam in 1953, but after two years she decided she wanted to change things around. Many of the men she met didn’t have a great education, and she wanted to do something to help. This inspired her to pursue education. Ms. Iserbyt served as the secretary to the ambassador of the U.S. Department of State in Pretoria, South Africa, from 1959 to 1960 and Brussels from 1961 to 1963, as well as in South Korea. She then co-founded the Guardians of Education for Maine in Camden in 1978, maintaining this role until 2000. During this time, she was the senior policy advisor in the U.S. Department of Education Office of Educational Research and Improvement in Washington, DC, from 1980 to 1982, where she worked for the administration of President Ronald Reagan. Currently, she serves as the president of 3D Research Co. in Bath, Maine, since 1999. In addition to this tenure, Ms. Iserbyt was a freelance writer from 1973 to 2005 and the host and guest on various talk shows between 1999 to 2005.

Prior to the start of her illustrious career, Ms. Iserbyt graduated with a diploma in secretarial, executive and academic studies, with honors, from the Katharine Gibbs School in New York in 1949. Since graduating, she was elected as a school board member of the Camden-Rockport School District from 1976 to 1979.

A prolific writer, Ms. Iserbyt authored two books, “The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America…A Chronological Paper Trail” in 1999, which alleges that changes gradually brought into the American public education system work to eliminate the influences of a child’s parents and mold the child into a member of the proletariat in preparation for a socialist-collectivist world of the future. She also wrote three editions of “Back to Basics Reform or…OBE*Skinnerian International Curriculum” between 1985 and 2003 and “Back to Basics Reform,” which documents her experiences working in the U.S. Department of Education, where she was privy to past and future plans to restructure American education. Likewise, Ms. Iserbyt has contributed numerous articles to professional journals and newspapers.

Outside of her primary trade, Ms. Iserbyt co-founded the Maine Conservative Union, an affiliate of the national American Conservative Union. The daughter and granddaughter of Yale University graduates and members of the Skull and Bones secret society, she has also maintained involvement with the Daughters of the American Revolution. Today, Ms. Iserbyt is the proud mother of two wonderful sons, Robert Louis and Samuel Thomson, as well as a doting grandmother to two beloved grandchildren. She has been known to enjoy studying languages and history and collecting old books in her spare time, and was selected for inclusion in the 24th edition of Who’s Who in the World and numerous editions of Who’s Who in America.
