Amy Nearine

Ascribing her success through the years to her stubbornness and perseverance, Amy S. Nearine is fantastically accomplished. Especially proud of her military service, she spent 11 years as a Russian linguist in the U.S. Army Reserve and six years as a technical illustrator in the U.S. Air Force, where she worked on the first Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) system. Now retired, she is focusing on building her career as a novelist and is dedicating herself to writing her second book. To this end, she plans to secure a publisher or agent to assist with the process and hopes to republish her first novel, “Daisy Shannon and the Fairy Godmother Council,” which she originally released in 2021. Throughout her life and pursuits, Ms. Nearine has been dedicated to empowering women through her advocacy. She strives to uplift and support women, and she embodies a staunch commitment to gender equality, which is reflective of her values. This ongoing, aspirational goal has been a driving force throughout her life and careers.

In an early opportunity, long before becoming a novelist, Ms. Nearine secured a position at a local newspaper with duties including typesetting and publishing news stories for the community. Finding the work to be creative and fulfilling, she launched her career in advertising and later transitioned to working in the banking industry. From 1994 to 2000, Ms. Nearine worked as a senior registered client associate with PaineWebber & Co., an investment bank and stock brokerage firm that has since been acquired by the Swiss bank UBS. From 2000 to 2003, she was a registered due diligence and compliance manager for Independent Portfolio Consultants, after which she garnered experience as a data manager for Hamilton Lane from 2004 to 2008. In 2009, Ms. Nearine completed a Bachelor of Science in business management at the University of Phoenix and began working as a contractor for Bank of America through Aerotek. From 2014 to 2015, she was an assistant vice president of process improvement and business continuity manager for Toronto-Dominion Bank.

Remaining dedicated to her professional development, Ms. Nearine graduated with a master’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix in 2015, additionally earning certifications as a Lean Six Sigma White Belt and a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt in 2015 and 2018, respectively. From 2015 to 2019, she continued her career in the financial sector at Toronto-Dominion Bank, where she was the vice president of policy, a process manager, and an operational risk officer. Ms. Nearine concluded her banking career with Wells Fargo, holding the title of vice president of control as well as a senior associate from 2019 to 2021, after which she was the vice president and lead digital product manager of business risk and control from 2021 to 2024. Following these stints, Ms. Nearine retired from the banking industry.

Since her retirement, Ms. Nearine has remained active with Toastmasters International, where she has been a member since 2015. As far back as 2006, she served as a club secretary and webmaster. Impressively, she has delivered more than 60 speeches with the prestigious organization and achieved success in competitions. In 2018, Toastmasters International awarded her as an Advanced Leader Bronze. Looking ahead, Ms. Nearine plans to become more involved with her local Democratic committee, with which she plans to spend time canvassing for congressional campaigns. She also hopes to volunteer at an animal shelter, as she has always loved cats and is passionate about animal welfare.

With her well-deserved free time, Ms. Nearine looks forward to indulging her love for travel by planning trips with her sister and friends to visit desired destinations across the country. She envisions many enriching experiences and new adventures ahead.
