Charron Michelle Hopson, MPA, is a multifaceted professional with a distinguished career in public service and the literary arts. As a management analyst with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) she investigates and constructs timely responses to inquiries from a wide array of stakeholders, including congressional officials, veteran service organizations, and the VA hotline. Her dedication to serving veterans has earned her the 2024 Employee of the Year award from the Department of Veterans Affairs, Medical Disability Examination Office in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Hopson’s academic achievements include a Bachelor of Arts in political science from West Chester University, a master’s in public administration from Keller Graduate School of Management, and a certificate in paralegal studies from Washington Online Institute. In 2017, she was awarded an honorary doctorate in philosophy from CICA International University & Seminary. Her dedication to continuous learning is evident in her recent certification in enterprise risk management from George Washington University’s Center in 2024.
Ms. Hopson’s career with the Veterans Benefits Administration began in 2019 as a veteran service representative at the Philadelphia Regional Office in the Pension Management Center. She quickly advanced to roles such as rating veteran service representative and supervisory veteran service representative, focusing on mentorship and service. Her most rewarding accomplishment in this role was transforming employees at risk of termination into successful, promoted professionals, demonstrating her commitment to people over processes.
Prior to her tenure with the VA, Ms. Hopson sharpened her legal acumen as a paralegal at Bell & Bell LLP and as an appeals analyst at Independence Blue Cross Blue Shield. These roles laid a strong foundation for her analytical and leadership skills, which she continues to apply in her current position.
Beyond public service, Ms. Hopson is a celebrated figure in the literary world. Writing under the pen name Charron Monaye, she has authored more than 25 books across six genres and contributed to over 20 book compilations. Her works, known for their inspirational themes and focus on women’s empowerment, have resonated with diverse audiences. She has also produced five theatrical productions and a short film, with her play Get Out of Your Own Way premiering to sold-out audiences in Hollywood and Times Square. This success marked a pivotal moment for Ms. Hopson, affirming her transition from seeking external validation to confidently pursuing her passions.
A prominent figure in her community, Ms. Hopson is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter #66 PHA-PA, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Nu Upsilon Zeta Chapter. She has been honored as a Fellow of the Most Excellent Order of International Experts by the United Nations and received an Assembly Resolution from the New Jersey General Assembly and a citation from the 31st New Jersey Senate.
Ms. Hopson attributes her success to her upbringing, recalling her parents’ encouragement with phrases like “Do You Dare To Be Great” and “Education Is the Key.” Looking ahead, she aims to continue serving veterans, inspire others through her writing, and be a role model to her sons, Christopher and Craig. With a legacy grounded in resilience, service, and creativity, Ms. Hopson remains committed to living life meaningfully.
