With a compassionate desire to help others, both in the classroom and in real estate, Annette Roberts has built a career centered on service. Born in Quantico, Virginia, Ms. Roberts began her professional journey in education before transitioning into the real estate industry. She holds a Master of Education in technology from George Mason University and a Bachelor of liberal studies in education from the University of Mary Washington. She taught keyboarding to Stafford County Public Schools students for three decades while advancing in real estate. In 2006, she fully switched to real estate, and today is the owner and broker of RE/MAX Cornerstone Realty in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

At the helm of her company, Ms. Roberts enthusiastically guides the five agents on her team, educating them about the latest regulations and ensuring they are well-prepared to assist clients effectively. Her devotion to her business and community has earned her numerous accolades, including a place in the RE/MAX Hall of Fame and the Lifetime Achievement Award from RE/MAX Cornerstone Realty. She has also been recognized as one of the Top 100 Agents and consistently ranks in the top 5 percent of real estate professionals in her area.

Ms. Roberts’ second career path began in 1994 when she obtained her real estate agent license. She earned her broker’s license in 2006, which allowed her to take on her current leadership role at RE/MAX Cornerstone Realty. Ms. Roberts has since emerged as an influential figure in the real estate industry, guiding clients through the complexities of buying, selling, leasing, and renting homes. Her expertise covers many residential needs, including property management and short sales. Her credentials, which include being a certified short sales negotiator and senior approval and relocation specialist, further highlight her prowess in meeting the unique needs of her clients.

Moreover, Ms. Roberts has established a reputation for her attentive listening skills—one of the keys to her success. She ensures that she fully understands her clients’ needs, a practice that sets her apart in real estate. Individuals, including former students and colleagues, often return to her with gratitude for supporting their goals. Ms. Roberts takes immense pride in helping people achieve their dreams of homeownership, especially those who face challenges, such as first-time homebuyers or clients navigating difficult life circumstances. One of her most rewarding moments was working with a couple who believed they could never afford a home. Ms. Roberts dedicated months to helping them improve their financial situation, ultimately leading to the day they could close on their new home. Opportunities to witness her clients’ joy and relief fuel her passion for real estate. She recalls another instance when a client going through a divorce broke down in her office. Although it wasn’t typical to discuss personal matters, she listened to him, offering the support he needed to find his footing during a difficult time.

Ms. Roberts ascribes her achievements, in part, to her ability to stay true to herself while continuously learning and evolving and to the support of her husband, who stood by her as she juggled teaching and studying real estate. She maintains a positive attitude and believes continuous learning is essential for growth. This philosophy has guided her throughout her life, ensuring that she is always prepared to provide the best assistance to her clients.

A devoted community member, Ms. Roberts volunteers with Homes for Heroes, an organization that supports military personnel, and Mary Washington Hospital. She also contributes to the Children’s Medical Network and is a proud mother who cherishes her children’s accomplishments. In her personal time, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones, reading, going to the beach, fishing, hiking, and biking. Horse racing and coaching softball also hold special places in Ms. Roberts’ heart, allowing her to connect with her community. Looking ahead, she hopes her business will continue to thrive, creating a legacy for her grandchildren. Although she is not focused on accumulating wealth, she wishes to pass on her values and entrepreneurial spirit. Should her children or grandchildren decide not to continue the business, she says she would sell it to someone who shares her vision for real estate.

A sense of responsibility is a hallmark of Ms. Roberts’ upbringing. Her father, a U.S. Marine, instilled in her a motto she carries with her: “Once a Marine, always a Marine.” Similarly, Ms. Roberts believes in the phrase “Once a teacher, always a teacher,” reflecting her lifelong commitment to education and real estate. Integrity and hard work are at the core of everything she does, and failure is not a part of her vocabulary. She has touched the lives of thousands of students, some of whom have gone on to become teachers themselves. One former student, who faced significant legal challenges, credits Ms. Roberts with helping him turn his life around. Moments of this kind, when her influence extends beyond the classroom or office, are among her proudest.

Ms. Roberts’ story is one of passion, perseverance, and service. She has seamlessly moved from education to leading a thriving real estate business while focusing on helping others. Whether working with first-time homebuyers, mentoring her agents, or volunteering in her community, Ms. Roberts continues to positively impact the lives of those around her.
