Tiffany N. Jones-Smith has found success as the chief executive officer and the executive director of the Texas Kidney Foundation since 2017. Incredibly skilled when it comes to helping people to connect and work together, she excels in all aspects of her job in chronic kidney disease prevention. Involved in prevention, education, early detection and support, she regularly works with a variety of programs, doing fundraising and research. Alongside her position with the Texas Kidney Foundation, Ms. Jones-Smith has served as the chief executive officer of Dynamic Life Press since 2014 and as the host of the popular radio show and podcast, “On the Record with Tiffany,” which is released through 930 AM The Answer.
Active as the vice president of development for BASH from 2015 to 2016, Ms. Jones-Smith previously spent a decade as the owner and director of Ms. Tiffany’s Childcare from 2004 to 2014. Earlier in her career, she cultivated her skills as the associate director of annual giving at Rice University from 2000 to 2004 and the call center manager for Baylor University from 1997 to 2000. She began her career in 1993 as an associate editor with Stevens Publishing.
In addition to her primary career responsibilities, Ms. Jones-Lewis was notably appointed to the Texas Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force by Gov. Greg Abbott, and has been involved in several other health care related endeavors, including membership in the American Association of Kidney Patients, We Work for Health Texas and Honor the Gift. She has also served as a board member with The Periwinkle Foundation, an organization the helps children, young adults and families who have been impacted by cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. Her research work has led her to be published in national, state and local publications, and she recently co-authored “Delphi Consensus and Systematic Review on Diagnosis, Education and Care of Patients with APOL 1-Associated Nephropathy” alongside 18 colleagues in 2020.
First studying Italian at the L’Universita per Stanieri di Perugia in Italy, Ms. Jones-Smith obtained a certificate in Italian language and literature in 1990. She subsequently joined Baylor University and earned a Bachelor of Science in journalism and foreign service in 1995. Continuing to learn throughout her career, she achieved certification in both Google Analytics and Google AdWords Search in 2017 and certification in leadership principles from Harvard Business School in 2020. She is very proud of her educational achievements, particularly learning to speak Italian and obtaining her leadership credential from Harvard.
Attributing much of her success to her drive to follow through and seize opportunities as they come, Ms. Jones-Smith emphasizes that no matter where you are in life you can achieve success through change and putting in the effort to realize your goals. Invested in giving back to her community, she has donated her time to the San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum, the San Antonio Business Journal Leadership Trust and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Looking toward the future, Ms. Jones-Smith hopes to increase the audience of “On the Record with Tiffany” and become nationally syndicated.
