Smriti Neogi

Smriti Neogi, PhD, MBA, ascribes her success to her experience across multiple industries, including manufacturing and health care. Equipped with two decades in her profession and a commitment to lifelong learning, she has excelled as the population health manager at UC Health in Ohio since 2023. Dr. Neogi is responsible for various improvements, collaborating with outpatient clinics, working with clinicians and staff, and analyzing process metrics and indicators. She employs her expertise in process improvement, health care analytics, and operational excellence to ensure the best outcomes for population health. Alongside this role, she shares her knowledge as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Neogi prepared for her career at Nirma University in her home country of India, earning a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering in 2001. She continued her higher education in the United States, graduating from The University of Texas at Arlington with a Master of Science in industrial engineering in 2007. At the same institution, she completed a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial engineering in 2014. Continuing her love of learning while expanding her career capabilities, in 2021, Dr. Neogi went on to earn a Master of Business Administration in management and operations from the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Neogi has remained committed to development and growth throughout her career. She is highly credentialed in her field as a certified internal auditor, a certified healthcare management engineer, a certified manufacturing engineer, and a Lean Bronze Level professional. She is also certified in production and inventory management and completed Six Sigma Black Belt certification through the American Society for Quality in 2022. To stay up to date with advancements in her field, Dr. Neogi is a member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, the American Society for Quality, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Society for Health Systems, and the Association for Operations Management. In addition, she remains affiliated with the Golden Key International Honor Society and the Tau Beta Pi Association Inc.

For her remarkable work on intravenous pump turnaround at a children’s hospital, Dr. Neogi and her team won first place in the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers Operational Excellence Division’s Best Practice Competition in 2020. She has published extensively in her field, co-authoring “Short Term Inpatient Bed Prediction” with the Production and Operations Management Society in 2016, among numerous creative works. For her written contributions, Dr. Neogi has been recognized with a Best Healthcare Systems Track Paper Award at the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management in 2014.

Outside of her career pursuits, Dr. Neogi devotes herself as a mentor and sponsor to many girls in her home country of India. She advises aspiring professionals to focus on maintaining a work-life balance while striving for excellence. When she isn’t working, Dr. Neogi relishes time with her son and enjoys painting, gardening, and crafting.
