Sarah Effertz

Initially involved in the marketing and finance industries for more than two decades, Sarah L. Effertz became well acquainted with event planning. Subsequently, she discovered her passion for the field and began completing event projects with nonprofit organizations while concurrently working full-time. Founding Blu Elefante Events in 2014, Ms. Effertz resigned from her tenure in the corporate realm in 2022 to focus solely on event planning. Through Blu Elefante Events, she endeavors to help companies surpass their profit goals by utilizing special events and fundraisers. Experiencing a myriad of career achievements, Ms. Effertz is particularly gratified by the impact of her business on the local community.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Effertz was the advancement coordinator and the program manager of the President’s Business Council at the University of Scranton between 2014 and 2022. She also worked for such institutions as The Commonwealth Medical College, Nexus Hospitality Management LLC, Cleverfish Media, TimesShamrock Communications, and Lincoln Investment Planning, focusing her attention on graphic art, marketing, sales, commerce, and research. Notably, she was also a co-owner of the Alchemy Home Company.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Effertz matriculated at Cairn University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2000 and a Bachelor of Science in biblical theology in 2001. After accruing many years in her industry, she earned a master’s degree in project management from the Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University in 2011. Adjacent to her professional ventures, Ms. Effertz has committed herself to various civic endeavors, such as serving on the board of directors of The Scranton Club. Furthermore, she is the executive director of the Scranton Jazz Festival, having been recognized as a singer with The Grove Church Band. Likewise, Ms. Effertz co-founded Here 4 A Reason, a community advocacy organization, where she continues to serve as a member.

As a testament to her success, Ms. Effertz was named a finalist at the SAGE Awards through the Scranton Chamber of Commerce in 2022. For her achievements, she credits the influence of her parents and grandparents, who all instilled in her the significance of maintaining a diligent work ethic and providing for her community. In the coming years, Ms. Effertz endeavors to expand the scope of Blu Elefante Events to a regional level with a keen focus on growing into a larger market. Ultimately, she aims to offer additional services to better support her clients’ needs.
