Rita Campbell

Rita Campbell’s standout career in the remodeling and home construction industry spans more than four decades. For nearly 30 years, she has been a co-owner, director, and vice president of operations at Allan Homes Inc., where her leadership and expertise have been instrumental to the company’s sustained success.

Ms. Campbell oversees all aspects of the business, including coordinating with subcontractors, maintaining schedules, ordering materials, preparing bids and proposals, managing payroll and human resources, handling office administration issues, addressing legal matters, and directing marketing initiatives. She is widely recognized in the field for her integrity and dedication to enhancing clients’ lives, as well as for her longevity in running Allan Homes.

Prior to her current executive roles, Ms. Campbell joined Allan Homes Inc. as a bookkeeper in 1983, contributing to financial records and administrative functions that laid the groundwork for her future leadership. She was named vice president of the organization in 1987. Her responsibilities during this period included strategic planning and operational oversight as the company expanded its reputation for quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction. Previously, Ms. Campbell held a management position at Hutzler Brothers Company and worked as an assistant manager at Gino’s. Her very early career focused on various office positions and experience as an aerobics instructor at several health clubs, demonstrating her versatility and strong work ethic from a young age.

In addition to her work in home construction, Ms. Campbell has prioritized community engagement through her part-time employment with Howard County Recreation and Parks. She has also managed a local dog park with exceptional care and attention since 2011, earning recognition for her efforts. Her dedication was honored in 2022 when she was named Contingent Part-Time Employee of the Year by Howard County Recreation and Parks and Contingent Employee of the Year by Howard County, Maryland.

Ms. Campbell’s expertise in remodeling has been widely acknowledged throughout her career. She is particularly proud of being featured on the cover of the magazine Living at the Hill — a testament to her professional accomplishments and visibility within the industry. While Ms. Campbell values the numerous awards that Allan Homes has received for homes constructed under her guidance, she considers the most significant reward to be knowing that she has helped clients create cherished spaces for their families.

Despite challenges in her life, Ms. Campbell has established a reputation for hard work. She earned a high school diploma from Seton High School in 1974 but was unable to pursue college studies due to financial constraints. Nevertheless, Ms. Campbell’s sense of responsibility, dedication, self-motivation, and practical judgment have proven central to her achievements. She credits these qualities with enabling her to excel professionally and personally.

Beyond her career, Ms. Campbell is active in civic service. She is affiliated with the YMCA. She also has volunteered with Animal Advocates of Howard County since 2013, demonstrating her personal commitment to animal care and welfare. She has a particular appreciation for dogs, especially German shepherds. When she is not working or donating her time and talents, Ms. Campbell enjoys gardening, photography, and spending time outdoors.

As she moves forward in her professional life, Ms. Campbell has begun planning for retirement. She intends to continue contributing to Allan Homes for the immediate years ahead while also looking forward to traveling once she retires. When that day arrives, Ms. Campbell will have left a legacy of helping her clients find happiness through her business and inspiring colleagues and others to emphasize kindness and positivity in their own lives.
