Patricia Trompeter is a distinguished leader in financial technology, currently serving as the chief executive officer of Sphere 3D. With a career spanning more than three decades, she has developed expertise in finance, corporate turnarounds, and business development. At Sphere 3D, she manages employees, oversees approximately 13,000 bitcoin mining operations, ensures a consistent power supply, maximizes revenue, makes capital decisions, handles investor relations, and releases press statements. She recently spoke at the largest Bitcoin conference and moderated a panel, demonstrating her leadership and ability to connect with professionals across industries.
Ms. Trompeter earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from Marquette University. Her academic background provided the analytical and strategic skills that have fueled her success in financial services and business restructuring. She credits her achievements to persistence, hard work, and the mentorship she received early in her career. She spent 17 years at GE Capital, holding various financial positions, including chief financial officer for a division in North America. During this time, she played a key role in corporate turnaround efforts and participated in international mergers and acquisitions. After leaving GE Capital, she traveled to the Middle East with her partner, dedicating much of her time to volunteer work. She later returned to the corporate sector, pursuing independent corporate turnaround projects. Her expertise led to roles with private equity firms, hedge funds, and family offices, where she executed successful turnarounds across diverse industries.
A colleague and shareholder at Sphere 3D brought Ms. Trompeter onto the board to assist in the company’s transition into Bitcoin mining. Her financial acumen and leadership experience made her a natural choice for the chief executive officer position, which she assumed approximately a year later. Since then, she has focused on expanding the company’s operations and increasing its market value while navigating the complexities of the cryptocurrency industry.
Beyond her role at Sphere 3D, Ms. Trompeter has served as interim chief executive officer of Parsec Capital Acquisition Corp since 2021 and as an advisor for Astor Aerospace from 2021 to 2022. She co-founded Ceres Capital Partners in 2018 and worked as a managing partner until 2022. Her career also includes roles as chief operating officer at Webbs Hill and business development consultant. Her vast experience in finance and leadership has made her a sought-after expert in corporate growth and operational efficiency.
Ms. Trompeter has been recognized for her professional contributions, including being named one of Forbes Media LLC’s “50 Under 50 Women to Watch” in 2023. As the only female chief executive officer of a public company in her industry, she has excelled in a male-dominated field, using her ability to build relationships and drive success. In addition to her professional commitments, Ms. Trompeter is a board member of the AIM Program at Marquette University and has mentored first-generation college and high school students. She supports civic initiatives, including food drives, domestic abuse programs at the Young Women’s Christian Association, and educational programs at the Waterside School in Stamford, Connecticut.
Born and raised in Chicago, Ms. Trompeter enjoys traveling, working out, kayaking, reading, cooking, and playing mahjong with friends. She values time with her two children, Chloe, who resides in Boston, and Brandon, who is pursuing degrees at Trinity College Dublin. While Ms. Trompeter envisions retiring, she intends to remain active on corporate boards and support businesses focused on women, children, education, and minorities. She plans to continue growing Sphere 3D while creating opportunities for others in the industry.
