Mamatha Vittalkar

An expert in technology and software engineering, Mamatha Vittalkar has established herself across a career spanning nearly 30 years marked by innovation, leadership and a commitment to excellence. Since 2025, she has served as vice president of engineering at Coupa, a global software company specializing in procurement solutions that streamline and support processes for enterprise clients across diverse industries, such as automotive and retail. In this capacity, Ms. Vittalkar oversees the delivery of multiple engineering-supported products and collaborates closely with product managers to define features and functionality. She leads engineering teams in both India and the United States, ensuring requirements are understood and implemented in a user-friendly manner.

Ms. Vittalkar’s responsibilities include developing code, testing performance and scalability for thousands of cloud users, delivering products to customers, resolving post-deployment issues, and maintaining high code quality to minimize defects. With artificial intelligence (AI) becoming central to product development, she leads efforts to deliver AI-driven capabilities that enhance business impact.

Prior to joining Coupa, Ms. Vittalkar held several key positions at SAP SE over nearly 20 years. She joined the company in 2004 as a software engineer, contributing to the design and implementation of mission-critical software products. Advancing through increasing levels of responsibility, Ms. Vittalkar was promoted to development manager, senior development manager and director of cloud integration. Serving as vice president of engineering and cloud integration from 2018 to 2021, she spearheaded the development of SAP’s Cloud Integration Gateway, a ground-up platform that quickly gained adoption by more than 1,000 customers within its first year — a notable professional milestone reflecting her ability to identify market gaps and deliver innovative solutions.

In 2021, she stepped into her ultimate role at SAP SE as vice president of engineering and supplier management and risk, where she directed teams focused on building robust solutions for supplier life cycle management and risk mitigation. Before her tenure at SAP SE, she was project lead Intelligroup (now doing business as NTT Data Inc.), a freelance Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP) consultant and a software engineer for Intel Corporation. Ms. Vittalkar started her career journey in her home country of India before immigrating to the United States in 2018. Her earliest jobs include tenures as a software engineer with Kirloskar Electric Company and, through India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, with Digital India.

Throughout her professional life, Ms. Vittalkar has distinguished herself through consistency, discipline and a strong work ethic. She is recognized for her unique ability to bridge technical depth with business acumen — an approach that has enabled her to develop effective solutions aligned with organizational objectives. Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Vittalkar is especially proud of being awarded a patent in 2021 for an intelligent automated method for baselining integration content using messages from historical tests for regression testing purposes. She considers this patent her greatest professional achievement and a testament to her innovative mindset and technical expertise.

The foundation for Ms. Vittalkar’s success and leadership in technology lies in her educational background. She earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Bangalore University in 1997. Committed to continuous learning and staying informed about industry trends, Ms. Vittalkar has pursued further training in the U.S. She completed a course in AI-driven leadership at Stanford University in 2025. Ms. Vittalkar credits her success to an unwavering persistence that drives her to resolve challenges fully before moving forward. She also points to what has often been described as “robotic consistency” — a dedication to hard work and discipline in all activities.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Ms. Vittalkar has demonstrated a focus on philanthropy during her time in India, particularly through support for empowerment initiatives and training programs. She personally taught English classes aimed at improving job prospects and ran a center offering sewing classes, where individuals could acquire employable skills within months. She emphasizes the power of helping others achieve financial independence.

Beyond her career, Ms. Vittalkar is a devoted wife to her spouse, Ram Ayyalaju, and a loving mother to two children, Manas and Avishi. Her favorite pastimes include traveling with family and friends and listening to Indian music.

In the years ahead, Ms. Vittalkar is eager to attain a C-level executive position, such as chief technology officer, chief product officer or chief information officer. Regardless of her role, she plans to carry forward her reputation for innovation and resilience, both professionally and personally.
