Immigrating to the United States from India in 1992, Nirali Patel was encouraged by her mother to continue her studies past a secondary education. Matriculating at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry in 2000, which she followed with a Master of Business Administration in global management from the University of Phoenix. For the past 13 years, Ms. Patel has excelled as the senior manager of research and development with Newell Brands, where she guides a global team in the formulation and development of personal care and hygiene products and looks for innovative new technologies that will help the company stand out as a leader in the field.
In 2021, Ms. Patel established her own company, SkinEx Care, LLC, out of her passion for skincare products and finding sustainable solutions for personal care. With SkinEx Care, she works with clients to develop women’s hygiene and care products, sunscreens, creams and lotions, and other spa products. She and her team create the product formulation for the client, and the formulation is then sent off for production. Proud to have brought a number of innovative products to market, she also cites one of her most outstanding professional achievements to be the development and construction of a whole new laboratory in order to conduct tests. Furthermore, Ms. Patel puts considerable focus on business networking to help the company grow and flourish through professional relationships.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Patel plans to expand SkinEx Care to encompass the manufacturing process so that they can develop their own brand name. Currently, the company’s work is primarily in consulting and product development, and she hopes that an expansion into manufacturing will allow SkinEx Care to excel independently, since they will no longer be relying on third-party groups. One of her most memorable experiences with SkinEx Care thus far was helping a doctor to develop feminine care products for patients, which the doctor had been struggling to do for some time. The doctor was incredibly satisfied with the work, which Ms. Patel found very gratifying to hear.
Ms. Patel attributes much of her success to the support of her husband, Pinal Patel, who is a business owner in his own right and has always encouraged her to follow her passion and do what she loves. She is deeply grateful for his support alongside that of her parents, who helped her through school; her two children, Mahi and Sohil; and the many mentors and colleagues she has had in the industry, such as Samir, who was the one who inspired her to open her own business. In order to remain up to date with developments in her field, Ms. Patel maintains professional affiliation with her local chapter of the American Chemical Society and the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists.
For her excellence, Ms. Patel has been the recipient of a number of honors and accolades. Most recently, she was named to Who’s Who of Professional Women with Marquis Who’s Who. Her dream is currently to get SkinEx Care featured in a cosmetics magazine as a manufacturer, producer and formulation expert. Driven by curiosity, Ms. Patel is always striving to keep learning and conducting research, noting that research into new chemicals and technologies is her absolute favorite thing to work on. When she isn’t working, Ms. Patel spends her free time doing oil paintings of landscapes, performing karaoke, and spending time with her children.
