Holding considerable expertise in nail art and fashion designing, Kita Griffin has found success as a nail designer with Kita’s Designs LLC since 2014. She is also a clothing designer for W.I.D.A. LLC, where she works with leather and other genuine materials to craft relevant and modern garments. She has made a name for herself in the field of nail design for only using sculpting forms, instead of stencils, molds or tips and her artwork is always hand-painted. Furthermore, she is mobile and will travel to you instead of operating out of a single storefront. This allows her to provide unique and personal experiences for her clients. Attributing her success to her perseverance, her skills in customer service, and the ways she engages with her clients, Ms. Griffin emphasizes the importance of being professional with your clients.
Alongside her primary responsibilities, Ms. Griffin has contributed her skills to a number of other professional endeavors. One of her notable achievements was creating a 3D nail art perfume bottle with actual perfume inside, which was featured on the Oxygen network’s social media account. She has also shown her original clothing designs at New York Fashion Week in February and September of 2017 and in September of 2019.
In addition to her design work, she strives to uplift women entrepreneurs by proffering her expertise as a public speaker as well as through her involvement in the Women Empowerment Group and the Pittsburgh Board City Council, where she is noted as a volunteer. Additionally, she is particularly proud of the work she did with the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where she donated her time to create nail designs for children battling terminal illnesses.
She first came to designing nails as a young girl at her grandmothers’ home. As an adult Ms. Griffin worked and held different positions at several banks throughout Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After experiencing a series of layoffs in 2013 she achieved a certificate from the North Hills Beauty Academy in 2013 and became a licensed nail technician, excelling in the field ever since.
For excellence in her career, Ms. Griffin has been the recipient of a number of honors and accolades. In 2014, she was presented with the Bella Award as the Pittsburgh’s Best Nail Artist 2014, which she cites as one of the high points of her career. She has also been featured in Nail Pro Magazine and Pittsburgh magazines. Soon after, Ms. Griffin began designing nails for Abby Lee of “Dance Moms.”
Ms. Griffin has been perpetually motivated in her career by her grandmother and her son. Ms. Griffin’s grandmother is actually her foster parent, so she feels it is important to pay homage to her for all the years her grandmother raised her. As the owner of W.I.D.A. LLC, she mentions that Wida is her grandmothers’ middle name which represents “Whom I Definitely Adore” as it pertains to her fashion line. Ms. Griffin has an 18-year-old son, Kiare, who recently stated that he wants to become a comedian.
In her free time, Ms. Griffin still enjoys designing and crafting. As she looks toward the future, she hopes to be able to grow her business to obtain clientele in different states. She hopes to leave a legacy as a skilled professional with a reputation for great work and a fun personality. In addition, she would advise young and aspiring professionals to cultivate good customer service skills, know how to research to find new clientele, invest in yourself, and to not be afraid if you lose out sometimes, as you often have to experience losses before you make progress.
