Following her marriage to her husband, Joe, Kathleen Kincanon Nosek was encouraged to enter the field of real estate by the realtor who helped them buy their first home. At the time, she was the assistant recreation director at Oak Brook Hills Hotel and Resort, a position she held for eight years from 1989 to 1997, but the hotel was going through several changes, and she felt the time was right for her to make a change. Now, with 24 years of experience, she has been the owner and designated managing broker of 4C Realty since 2010. She is a certified real estate negotiator, with many designations, and specializes in residential real estate in the Chicagoland area suburbs. Attributing much of her success to treating each client like they are family, Kathy is proud to have made lifelong friends as the result of the work she loves. Notably, she has seen many repeat clients, and 97.5% of her business comes from her very happy and satisfied past client referrals.
In addition, Kathy has contributed her time and talent by volunteering on many industry related committees, including involvement in Women’s Council of Realtors. Highly involved with the Women’s Council of Realtors, she held the role of president of the West Suburban Network in 2013, state secretary in 2015, treasurer in 2016 and 2017 and was named Member of the Year in 2016 and 2019. Kathy currently serves on the board of directors for the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors, as well as doing work as a mentor within their leadership programs. Other committees include the professional standards committee for Illinois Realtors; the global committee; diversity, equity and inclusion committee; and Kathy is the current president of Mainstreet’s Toastmaster’s Club.
Equally dedicated to her family, Kathy has been married to her husband, Joe, for 33 years, and is the proud mother of one son, Tim; her daughter-in-law Julie; and two amazing grandchildren Colin and Kellie. Kathy says, “they are my heart.”
As if Kathy’s life wasn’t busy and full enough, she has recently become a published author. Her book, titled “My Darling: 99 Love Letters,” tells the story of her parents’ romance through her dad’s 99 love letters during World War II. Unearthing his letters and finally being able to read them, Kathy was unable to get them out of her mind. She knew it was a story to be told, one for the ages, so she decided to write a book to share her parents’ love story through her eyes.
The book took three years to write and the publication date, December 16, 2020, holds its own importance to the story, being the date that her father was captured at the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 and died 56 years later to the day. Her father’s last letter to her mother was dated December 13, 1944. Kathy’s mom didn’t hear from him again until June 1, 1945, all the while she was home awaiting the arrival of their first child with no word if her new husband was dead or alive. The War Department had sent a letter in April 1945 saying they had no information on her husband. Since the book’s publication, Kathy has appeared on ABC7, NBC5, and WGN and NBC2 in Naples, Florida.
