For more than two decades, Kari K. Harman, RN, CCM, CWCA, WCN-C, CSWD-C, FCC, ACCWS, DAPWCA, has established herself as a distinguished expert in wound care. Since 2022, she has been vice president of clinical operations and business development at HealWell LLC, a health care technology company in Oklahoma that uses artificial intelligence and data science to help identify and diagnose diseases early. In this role, she oversees three practices, educates new wound care providers and nurses, manages the sales force, and develops marketing materials. Her position also extends to her participation on the committee of the Wound Healing Society, a nonprofit organization composed of clinical and basic scientists and wound care specialists with a mission to improve wound healing outcomes through science, professional education, and communication.
Additionally, Ms. Harman has served as a faculty educator and wound care instructor at the Advanced Health Institute since 2021. She is also the owner of Wound Wise Consulting, where she supports private physician practices in establishing wound care clinics and teaches certification courses. Her entrepreneurial drive is further reflected in her ownership of CompCare Concepts LLC, established in 2014.
Ms. Harman’s experience includes serving as director of wound management at Mays Home Care from 2019 to 2023 and as a consulting specialist at iWound from 2021 to 2022. She was a clinical wound specialist at Halo Wound Solutions from 2018 to 2021 and a wound education specialist at Gentell Inc. from 2014 to 2017. Earlier in her career, she worked as a nurse case manager at ALARIS Group Inc., advanced wound management specialist and owner of Wound Matrix Consulting, and workers’ compensation nurse case manager at Working Rehabilitation Solutions.
Ms. Harman laid a strong academic foundation, earning an associate degree in nursing from Seminole State College in 2002 and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Chamberlain University in 2024. Further advancing her expertise, she achieved certification as a certified wound care associate through the American Board of Wound Management, certification from the Commission for Case Manager Certification, became a fellow of the American College of Certified Wound Specialists in 2010, and achieved status as a certified case manager through the Case Management Society of America.
Reflecting on her path, Ms. Harman’s career is defined by notable achievements, including earning her wound care certification, which paved the way for business ownership and consulting opportunities. Moreover, she actively contributes to the field as an ambassador for the American Board of Wound Management and as a member of organizations such as the American Professional Wound Care Association and the Case Management Society of America. In advising aspiring professionals, she highlights the evolving nature of health care and underscores the transformative potential of technology in addressing disparities through mobile and remote care.
Looking to the future, Ms. Harman aspires for her legacy to be one of integrity, empathy, knowledge, and dedication to patient care. She emphasizes a holistic and compassionate approach to treatment, aiming to provide valuable community resources and enrich lives through the healing process. She plans to expand her practice by opening five additional locations and further developing her wound care business. Advising aspiring professionals, Ms. Harman highlights the importance of embracing technology to deliver care in underserved areas and using mobile and remote resources to address disparities in health care.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Harman is deeply committed to civic engagement, supporting initiatives such as rodeo Bible camps and events that empower young women. Personally, she values family life with her spouse and children. In her leisure time, she has a passion for raising horses, participating in rodeos, and engaging in team roping activities.
