Who's Who of Professional Women

Attributing much of her success over the years to surrounding herself with brilliant people and being open to learning as much as possible, Jacqueline Hurley has excelled as the pectus program coordinator at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital since 2013 and on the board of directors for the Pectus Awareness and Support Foundation since 2015. She previously served as the chief executive officer and president of Pectus International from 2013 to 2016, and remains active with the organization to this day.

Earlier in her career, she found success as the practice manager and pectus program coordinator for the Center of Excellence for Pectus from 1990 to 2013. Looking toward the future, she will be continuing her work helping those with pectus excavatum and with Pectus International. She hopes to eventually publish a book on pectus excavatum and remain a stalwart advocate for patients.

Drawn to her profession as a result of her early work in automating medical practices for arthritis and internal medicine specialists, Ms. Hurley began her studies at the State University of New York at Potsdam, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science in 1988, having been on the dean’s list from 1972 to 1974 and on the president’s list at Grossmont College in 1988. She is certified as a medical coder and a business PC specialist. Furthermore, during her time at a children’s hospital in San Diego, she received additional training in pediatric surgery and had the privilege to work alongside Dr. Donald Nuss, the inventor of the minimally-invasive Nuss procedure.

Ms. Hurley has been active in her community as well and has dedicated her time to the Women’s Bureau of Tourism in Phoenix, Arizona. In her free time, she greatly enjoys singing and has sung in several classic rock bands, including the Retro-Rocketts, Band on the Run, Acoustic Karma and Dangerous Curves. Ms. Hurley is also the proud mother of one son, Taylor L. Riavic.
