Backed by a lifelong love for working with numbers and a passion for investing, Faith McClung Kline O’Brien has thrived as the president of Hearthstone Enterprises, Inc. She has been with the company since 1996, and she really values the relationship she has built with her employees. Their support has given her security and the freedom to be herself. Ms. O’Brien also likes the fact that her work is challenging, as that means that every day brings something new to keep her on her toes.
Prior to this endeavor, Ms. O’Brien garnered experience in a variety of other positions. Some of these include director of trusts and investments at Hillsdale College, director of trust and investment services and corporate assistant secretary at The Free Methodist Foundation, and investment broker at A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. She has also been a registered representative with IDS Financial Services (now the American Express Company), the executive secretary to the president of Camp International, Inc., the assistant director of admissions at Spring Arbor University, the owner and partner of the Country Peddler Gift Shop, and the co-owner of Idyll Hour Coffeehouse.
When Ms. O’Brien isn’t working, she enjoys antiques, music, writing, and genealogy. She pursues her interest in genealogy as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and through her own research. Ms. O’Brien was amazed to find that her ancestors were from New York back in the 1600s. She even published her findings in books like “Fishing Tales and Boat Sails,” “Sketches from the Western Frontier: The Level Family, The Gilbert Family,” and “The Klines of Evanston: 1848 to 1968.” With regards to music, Ms. O’Brien is an organist and singer at her church. She also gives a number of her grandchildren piano lessons.
If Ms. O’Brien could offer some advice to the younger generations, it would be to get the best education possible. She herself received a Bachelor of Arts from Southern Nazarene University.
