A real people person, Diane Genova has found law to be the perfect field for her. She loves being able to work with such a diverse group of clients and colleagues, and appreciates the intellectual challenge law poses. Further, she likes being able to see tangible results from her work. One of her specialties is building high-functioning teams. Ms. Genova always takes the time to learn each person individually and to help those struggling. She considers herself part player, part coach, part cheerleader, and is proud of her role in training, developing, and mentoring a whole generation of young lawyers.
Ms. Genova’s first position in the field was associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, followed by vice president, assistant resident counsel, and managing director at Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. and managing director and associate general counsel at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. Then, from 2003 to 2010, she served as a general counsel for investment banks, and from 2010 to 2014, she served as a general counsel for markets. She started as a corporate general counsel in 2014, and remains in the role to this day. Her expertise is crisis management.
To prepare for her endeavors, Ms. Genova earned a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College in 1970 and a JD from Columbia University in 1975, and completed postgraduate coursework at Harvard University between 1970 and 1971. She also became admitted to practice in the state of New York. In recognition of her academic excellence, Ms. Genova was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. She attributes her success to her perseverance and resilience. Her achievements have been highlighted in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who of American Women.
When Ms. Genova has spare time, she enjoys photography, traveling to see wildlife, spending time with her friends and extended family, and fine arts.
