Carol Stormer

Carol A. Stormer, OTR, NBCOT, celebrates over 35 years of experience in occupational therapy and has been noted for her achievements, leadership qualities, credentials, and successes accrued in the field. Her extensive background spans positions in skilled nursing facilities, private rehab facilities and area hospitals, and she is continuing to grow as a director while providing occupational therapy services. She oversees occupational, physical and speech therapies, providing care to persons in the Columbia Gorge, a canyon of the Columbia River in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Providing care to residents of both Oregon and Washington is an honor and a privilege.

To support her career growth, Ms. Stormer is mentored by experienced rehab professionals from EmpRes Healthcare. She remains a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and the Occupational Therapy Association of Oregon. She is a former board member of the Occupational Therapy Association of Oregon.

Engaged in various community efforts, Ms. Stormer has volunteered her time with a multitude of civic and nonprofit organizations. She has volunteered her time forming the Pacific Dragon Boat Association, USA; with the United States Dragonboat Federation; and assisted and coached at risk youth, visually impaired and breast cancer teams. She additionally volunteered for Grays Harbor Historical Seaport and sang in civic and church choirs as well as volunteering in Oregon educational systems. She also has assisted with fundraising for school sports and professional causes.

Having accomplished much over the course of her career, Ms. Stormer attributes much of her success to her parents and the lessons they instilled during her upbringing. Attending Colorado State University, she also studied with and was advised by Elnora Gilfoyle, DSc, OTR, FAOTA; Patricia Crist, PhD, OTR, FAOTA; and Kevin Oltjenbruns, PhD, a pioneer in human development and family studies and hospice founder. All three had remarkable spirits, which inspired Ms. Stormer early on in her studies.

Looking forward to the next 10 years of her career, Ms. Stormer hopes to continue mentoring students and provide quality care for her patients. Furthermore, she has begun considering retirement and plans to retire in Columbia Gorge, where she is a member of the Friends of the Columbia Gorge and the Gorge Canoe Club. Ms. Stormer takes great joy in nature, currently hiking, outrigger boating and kayaking in the Pacific Northwest.

For excellence in her career, Ms. Stormer was spotlighted on CUTV News Radio, named Woman of the Year by the National Organization of Professional Women, presented with the Shining Star Award from Infinity Rehab and voted “Most Talented” by Aurora Central High School in Colorado.
