With caring as her true calling and more than a decade of experience in her profession, Amber A. Fields is the founder and chief executive officer of Safe at Home Sidney, Inc., a home care and companionship agency that supports individuals by assisting them with a variety of essential needs and daily tasks. In her role, Mrs. Fields is dedicated to hiring, networking, problem-solving for families, and rural community outreach.
Mrs. Fields’s goal was to form an agency that provided structured and quality care to all members of the community who were in need while providing caregivers with employment opportunities, fair compensation, benefits, and flexible schedules. Thus, Safe At Home Sidney, Inc., was formed. To this end, Mrs. Fields makes a significant impact by providing necessary services to the community. Her vast expertise and empathy in understanding people’s needs have been major keys to her accomplishments.
Mrs. Fields’s unique path into the home care arena began through the Nebraska Medicaid Aged and Disabled Waiver Program. She and many of her staff members were already providing critical services as independent personal caregivers. However, when other home companies and nursing residences closed in her area, and no other large agency stepped in to fill the needs and voids in her community, she took the initiative to form her own business to the relief of many people. Since then, Mrs. Fields feels that she has experienced extensive personal and professional growth due to the extensive learning she has had to undertake, particularly about the varying state laws. Rather than adopting a strict “CEO mindset,” she prioritizes creating a comfortable environment for her employees, which she believes is beneficial for everyone involved.
In recognition of her selfless and singular achievements, Mrs. Fields was awarded the Business of the Year Award from the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce in 2022, highlighting her commitment to providing exceptional care and support to families in need, her passion for investing back into communities and being “the change you want to see in the world” as the familiar affirmation states. Further, Safe At Home Sidney, Inc., launched a new Be The Change Program that donates to various nonprofits, including offering secondhand free medical supplies to community members in need.
Deeply involved in her professional community, Mrs. Fields has included membership for Safe At Home Sidney, Inc., in three county chambers of commerce, the Home Care Association of America, NE Panhandle Partnership, Rotary Clubs, Network Healthcare Alliance, and other groups. Her connection to these organizations underscores her devotion t to professional excellence and community service. Additionally, she partners with a variety of local organizations for sponsorships and donations, such as rural Nebraska schools, A Night of Hope Walk for Cancer, local heritage festivals and fairs, Keep Sidney Beautiful, PlainsWest CASA, and many other nonprofits that she connects with in her ongoing networking efforts.
For her educational foundation, Mrs. Fields is a proud graduate of Sidney High School in Nebraska and is licensed as a certified nursing assistant. She attributes her success to her strong work ethic and never-ending commitment to the well-being of her employees, many of whom she considers family. Outside of her professional life, she is a loving mother of six children and has two beloved grandchildren. She cherishes quality time with her family and enjoys reading, listening to audiobooks, camping, and collecting antique furniture.
Pondering the future of Safe At Home Sidney, Inc., Mrs. Fields optimistically envisions expanding the company throughout the state of Nebraska and into underserved communities near Colorado and Wyoming that also are in desperate need of care services. Her dedication and vision continue to drive her agency forward, ensuring that everyone with whom she interacts receives the necessary and compassionate support they deserve.
