Taught to write by her mother as a teenager in the 1980s, Adriene Joy Jones found herself called to be a writer in 1995. As she began to cultivate her skills in writing, she started taking writing courses and eventually obtained an associate degree from ICS in 1999. That same year, she joined Newman Springs Publishing, where she has excelled as an author ever since. With eight books currently available for purchase through Amazon and Barnes & Noble, she has developed a reputation for honest storytelling and not sugarcoating tragedy, especially when she is writing stories that are based on real events. Ms. Jones considers it incredibly important to spend time conducting careful research so that she can present everything faithfully and accurately.
Occasionally having to hold other positions in order to support her writing, Ms. Jones has been active in a number of different fields over the course of her career, including working in a warehouse, a dietary clinic and a nursing home. In 2013, she published her first novel, “Just Another Victim,” based on the true story of the 1965 assault of a young women in New York City after she’d gone out with friends. This was followed in 2014 by “A Different Bark,” a children’s book about dogs in love who are forced to hide their love from a disapproving owner. Four years later, in 2018, she found great success with the publication of five books: “Bitter/Sweet,” a story of how love, hate and anger impact two families struggling with poverty; “Meow,” a fairytale-esque thriller about a cat looking to find her forever home; “His Voice,” the story of a preacher’s journey of faith as he strives to stay on the true and moral path; “Unfamiliar Knock,” the tale of a man falsely accused of assaulting a young girl; and “His Love Saved Her,” a story of love and jealousy.
Ms. Jones’ most recent book, “Her Last Plea,” was published by Newman Springs in 2020. It tells the story of her late sister, Sylvia Jones, who was tragically murdered at 26 after leaving an abusive relationship. She was encouraged to write the book by her other sister, Kimberly, and hopes that “Her Last Plea” can serve as inspiration and encouragement to women trapped in similarly abusive situations. Looking toward the future, Ms. Jones has plans for seven more new books and is also in the process of trying to get a second printing underway for “Unfamiliar Knock.” She hopes to use this reprinting to highlight the issues surrounding false and malicious accusations of sexual assault that have left innocent men labeled as sex offenders while the actual offenders go free.
Having accomplished much with her writing throughout the years, Ms. Jones’ ultimate goal when she writes about real life tragedies and other serious issues is to bring awareness and attention to how those issues impact people’s lives every day. For her excellence, she has been recognized for her work as an esteemed listee of Marquis Who’s Who and was named a Marquis Who’s Who Top Professional in 2021. In addition to being featured on the Who’s Who of Professional Women website, she will be appearing in an upcoming edition of the Who’s Who of Professional Women: Women of Influence Series from Marquis Who’s Who. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, to father Joseph Jones Sr. and mother Ida Bell Jones, Ms. Jones enjoys spending her free time cooking, reading, listening to music, exercising and babysitting for friends and family.
