Melissa L. La Marr

Melissa L. La Marr has established herself as an esteemed figure in the digital media and production industry, having excelled as the chief operating officer at ZHC since 2024. In this capacity, she manages brand integration negotiations within digital media partnerships, oversees logistics, scheduling, human resources and budget balancing across all company operations and acts as a liaison for third-party vendors and external production partners. Ms. La Marr’s responsibilities additionally include coordinating and managing teams across day-to-day operations, providing operational expertise as the most senior and longest-tenured member of the organization and supervising side businesses such as merchandise, artwork and internally developed projects like a colleague-led crochet kit business. 

Based in Texas, Ms. La Marr’s work frequently extends nationwide and occasionally internationally, adapting to the specific requirements of each project. Her tenure at ZHC is marked by her ability to thrive in high-pressure, fast-moving environments, bringing structure and clarity to complex situations while maintaining composure under stress. She is particularly proud of her role as one of the few women at an executive level within the YouTube space—a rarity in the industry—and attributes her success to consistent hard work and the trust she has earned from colleagues. Ms. La Marr’s leadership is further underscored by her commitment to transparency and open communication, which she believes fosters positive collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.

Prior to her current role, Ms. La Marr was active as the head of production at ZHC Corporation in Austin from 2021 to 2024. In this position, she was responsible for overseeing all aspects of production management, ensuring seamless execution of creative projects and supporting the company’s rapid growth in digital content creation.

Since 2020, Ms. La Marr has also found success as a YouTube and digital media channel advisor, providing strategic guidance on organizational structure and hiring processes for various channels. Her expertise in production and people management has made her a sought-after consultant within the industry.

In 2021, Ms. La Marr served as a producer at Fighting Monk, a hiring advisor at Lanky Box, a unit production manager at Imagined Sights Productions in Austin, an executive-in-charge at FGTeeV in Charlotte, and a producer at 3rd & Lamar. Her experience with MrBeast YouTube LLC in 2020 included roles as producer, production manager and field producer across Greenville, Atlanta and other locations. These positions provided valuable insight into large-scale digital productions and further established her reputation for operational excellence.

A former production manager for Original Productions and Smarty Pants in Austin, Texas, Ms. La Marr has also held myriad production roles for such notable companies as Rooster Teeth, Hulu, FloSports, Texas Crew Production, Voyage Media, and A&E Television, among others. Furthermore, she worked as a casting director for Castleview Productions, a photographer with PlayNetwork, a production assistant for Focus Features, a production coordinator in the San Francisco Bay Area for HBO, and a director’s assistant for Things You Can Tell Inc. Beginning her career in the media landscape through internships with the Disney/ABC Television Group and STAR 92.9 FM KLRK-FM, Ms. La Marr is also credited as a producer for “Bad Cut: The Dangers Of Extreme Weight Cutting.”

Beyond her primary endeavors, Ms. La Marr has continuously contributed to Women In Film Los Angeles, where she contributed to initiatives supporting vulnerable youth populations through media advocacy. She continues to support colleagues informally by offering guidance on job applications or résumé reviews—reflecting her belief that mentorship is essential to professional growth.

To support her professional ambitions, Ms. La Marr pursued an education at Baylor University, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in film and digital media in 2007. This academic foundation provided critical technical knowledge and creative insight that have been instrumental throughout her career. Ms. La Marr further enhanced her credentials by completing the Professional Program in Producing at University of California Los Angeles in 2009—an achievement that deepened her understanding of industry best practices.

Ms. La Marr’s multifaceted experience in her field included developing brand pitch materials during a period working within commercial marketing, which informed her later shifts into documentary storytelling and docu-reality programming. Her move into digital content was catalyzed by an opportunity to assist a colleague—an experience that ultimately led to collaborations with major YouTube creators. Recognizing gaps within emerging digital companies regarding operational standards, Ms. La Marr leveraged her traditional industry training to implement professional protocols that have since become benchmarks within the field.

Ms. La Marr further maintains her civic involvement as an ongoing contributor to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, coordinating set visits where children enjoy memorable experiences complete with gifts and meals. She is also a regular donor to Humane World for Animals, formerly known as the Humane Society of the United States, for which she organizes annual neighborhood drives collecting winter clothing and sleeping bags which she personally distributes to those experiencing hardship. During her formative years, Ms. La Marr participated extensively in community programs including mentorship initiatives similar to Big Brothers Big Sisters while attending Baylor University.
