
An innovator in health care technology and smart automation, Angela Cabrera has built a career that merges entrepreneurial drive with technical precision. As founder and chief executive officer of Alegna Technologies Inc., she has guided the company through complex challenges and groundbreaking developments in hospital management systems and Internet of Things platforms. Her leadership is characterized by direct involvement across departments, from walking hospital floors with engineers and staff to crafting research grant proposals and overseeing financial, legal and procurement activities.
Ms. Cabrera’s educational background has laid the groundwork for a career defined by versatility and forward thinking. She pursued advanced business studies at several leading institutions, including the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago, the University of Texas, the University of Georgia, Georgia State University and the UGA I-Corps Capstone program. She earned an associate degree from Broward Community College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In addition to her formal education, she holds a Six Sigma green belt certification and real estate credentials through several professional organizations. She has completed online coursework in business operations, grant writing and federal programs to remain at the forefront of evolving industry standards.
At Alegna Technologies, Ms. Cabrera directs research and development efforts for projects such as a corrosion sensor and a 3D-embeddable sensor that integrates into manufacturing molds to detect defects in real time. These tools reflect her vision for expanding into the medical equipment sector, where predictive maintenance and embedded intelligence are transforming care delivery and manufacturing. Under her leadership, the company holds several Navy intellectual property licenses that support research, manufacturing and commercialization of advanced sensors designed for challenging environments, including ship maintenance. She also partners with academic institutions to accelerate these initiatives.
Ms. Cabrera is also the founder of e-Data Collectors, where she continues to promote advancements in data management technology. Her earlier role as president of Integrated Medical Solutions Inc. focused on integrating medical systems within large-scale construction projects, including government and correctional facilities. Her first entrepreneurial venture, Ideal Medical, launched with a focus on X-ray technology before expanding into the health care construction sector. She successfully grew that company over more than a decade and eventually took it public, a landmark accomplishment and one of the highlights of her career.
Throughout her journey, Ms. Cabrera has cultivated strong ties to the business and technology communities. She serves on the board of the Technology Association of Georgia and is a founding member of the Georgia Tech 4.0 Manufacturing Consortium. Her contributions have been recognized through Innovator awards from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and two decades of acknowledgment from the Minority Business Development Agency.
Ms. Cabrera gives back to the community through mentorship and service. A founding member of the Georgia Institute of Technology Advanced Manufacturing 4.0 Consortium, she also volunteers with the Small Business Administration’s SCORE program, mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs. Her long-term commitment to Meals on Wheels reflects her personal belief in helping others through consistent, hands-on involvement. She has served on the board of TransTech since joining the Technology Association of Georgia. In the future, she plans to complete development on her company’s current sensor projects, open a manufacturing facility for semiconductors and establish a business school that empowers women and girls.
