Maria K. Harb, MBA, is thriving as the senior vice president of enterprise risk management at Citigroup Inc., where she specializes in creating comprehensive procedural documentation, tracking risks, and conducting stress testing across retail, banking, and trading business lines. She began her career at Citigroup in 2006 as an equity middle office and equity trade support intern. She transitioned to global wealth management operations associate from 2007 to 2010. She then joined J.P. Morgan as a prime brokerage client service specialist from 2010 to 2014, managing client relations within the prime brokerage business and collaborating closely with hedge funds and broker-dealers.
In 2014, Ms. Harb joined Canaccord Genuity’s global capital markets division as a senior associate in the international equities group. By 2016, she advanced to vice president of risk management, where she played a key role in developing a risk management framework for the firm. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she is committed to civic engagement, having served as a mentor coach for America Needs You from 2015 to 2017. She is also deeply involved in mentoring interns and college students, sharing her knowledge with the next generation.
Ms. Harb’s impressive academic foundation includes a bachelor’s degree in finance and investment from Macaulay Honors College at the City University of New York and a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and investments from Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, both earned in 2007. She furthered her education with a Master of Business Administration in corporate finance, banking, financial instruments, and markets from the Stern School of Business at New York University in 2013. She is a chartered financial analyst, Level II, candidate and holds a Series 7 certification from FINRA.
Ms. Harb attributes her success to her parents’ emphasis on education and independence and her early passion for the stock market and banking industries. Her proactive approach to addressing potential events rather than reacting to them has been pivotal in her career achievements. Pondering her professional future, she aims to expand her role beyond risk management, focusing on people management and mentoring opportunities.
Born in Kiev, Ms. Harb supports her children, James and Jack, in their sports activities, including lacrosse, football, soccer, and swimming. In her leisure time, she enjoys cultural activities such as visiting museums and attending events at Lincoln Center.
