Inspired to become a lawyer in second grade by her best friend’s father, D. Robin Gouveia has thrived as a managing attorney for d’Oliveira and Associates. She joined the firm in 2011, and focuses her practice on personal injury and disability law. Her day-to-day responsibilities include speaking to prospective clients, meeting with active clients, and drafting and reviewing letters to insurance companies. Ms. Gouveia also communicates with medical providers and develops with case strategies. She loves that the job allows her to help others, and hopes that, in the future, she will continue to advance in the field. One of her goals is to teach her associates to appreciate law as much as she does.
Ms. Gouveia is active in her field even outside of the firm. Over the years, she has garnered experience as the chair of the membership committee and as a member of the board of governors of the Rhode Island Association for Justice, and as a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Bristol County Bar Association, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, and the New Bedford Chamber of Commerce, now the SouthCoast Chamber of Commerce.
To prepare for her endeavors, Ms. Gouveia earned a JD from Southern New England School of Law, now the School of Law, University of Massachusetts, in 1998 and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 1989. She then became admitted to practice in the commonwealth of Massachusetts, the state of Rhode Island, and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She attributes much of her success to her college mentor, Professor Robert Kane.
When Ms. Gouveia has spare time, she enjoys golfing, traveling, bike riding.
