THERESA M. THROWER

A celebrated health care professional, Theresa M. Thrower, RN, CRNI, OCN, worked in Hawaii, Seattle and throughout the State of Washington over the course of her illustrious career. After completing her nursing degree more than 40 years ago, she began as a staff nurse at Strab Clinic and Hospital in Honolulu and as a patient care coordinator at the Hemophilia Foundation of Hawaii. Ms. Thrower later found success on behalf of several other organizations as a staff nurse, a home intravenous nurse, a clinical nurse consultant and an intravenous program director.

Attending the University of Washington, Ms. Thrower acquired a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1977. She later returned to the university, where she completed the registered nurse infusion certification in 1993. To remain aware of developments in her field, Ms. Thrower has maintained her membership with such organizations as the American Nurses Association, the Washington School of Nutrition Association, the Intravenous Society and the National Intravenous Nurse Society. Among her other professional affiliations, she is active with the Foundation for Successful Women, and is the vice president and secretary for Hospice Without Borders, a volunteer organization that works in the U.S. and Rwanda developing palliative care for the marginalized people.

Well-regarded for her various contributions, Ms. Thrower was recognized with several awards from the Jaycees between 1983 and 1991. She also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Aloha United Way in 1987 and 1988 for her volunteer efforts, and a Washington Dignitary #154 Award in 1995. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Thrower has been included in the fourth and fifth editions of Who’s Who in American Nursing.

In her spare time, Ms. Thrower has a small jewelry business. She makes jewelry and sells it at shows and individually to people, and she also teaches people how to make jewelry.
