Suzanne Styring

Suzanne I. Styring is a licensed radiation therapist and radiotherapy technologist who attributes her success to her perseverance and love for her profession. Since 2016, she has worked at the Bassett Medical Center, in Cooperstown, New York, where she is responsible for treating cancer patients with radiation. Prior to this role, she was a radiation therapist at Saint Clare’s Denville Hospital in New Jersey for a decade and worked as a chief technologist at New York-based Memorial Sloan Kettering from 1999 to 2001. Ms. Styring also was a chief technologist at the Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey from 1982 to 1985. She began her career at the Dover General Hospital & Medical Center in New Jersey between 1978 to 1981.

During her high school education, Ms. Styring had an interest in photography. After visiting Morristown Memorial on career day, she saw an X-ray, sparking her interest in radiology. After graduation, she was accepted to the St. Barnabas Medical Center School of Radiography in Livingston, New Jersey, where she completed a two-year program and graduated with an associate degree in X-ray and radiologic technology in 1982. After garnering six months of experience, Ms. Styring was asked to take a position in the radiation oncology department and accepted the job. After rising to the position of chief therapist, she returned to school and earned her license before returning to work in radiology at the Morristown Medical Center.

Alongside her primary roles, Ms. Styring has maintained affiliation with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. She contributes her free time to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society and its Relay For Life. For her professional excellence, she received a Fish Out of Water Award. In her personal time, Ms. Styring enjoys walking her dogs and previously rode and trained Arabian horses, a feat she counts among her most notable achievements. Before long, she looks forward to enjoying her well-deserved retirement.
