An acclaimed medical professional with many years of experience in her field, Susan E. Levitzky, MD, FAAP, has found success as the medical director of the foster care agency for the Jewish Child Care Association and as a pediatrician operating out of her private practice. Cited as a Leading Physician of the World by the International Association of Healthcare Professionals, she has been additionally active as a pediatrician with the NYU Langone Medical Center and the Mount Sinai Medical Center. In her present post, Dr. Levitzky offers comprehensive care services that include advocacy for children’s physical, emotional and educational health.
Previously, Dr. Levitzky gained valuable expertise in the field through an internship in pediatrics through Bellevue Hospital NYU Medical Center in New York in 1967 and a residency in pediatrics at Beth Israel Hospital Medical Center from 1968 to 1970. She subsequently excelled as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at NYU School of Medicine. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Levitzky maintains her membership with the American Academy of Pediatrics, where she works as the co-chairman of the committee on child abuse, neglect and out-of-home care, and the New York Pediatric Society, where she serves as a treasurer.
Before pursuing a career in medicine, Dr. Levitzky earned a Bachelor of Science in medical sciences and English at the University of Wisconsin in 1963. She later obtained an MD from the University of Illinois’ Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine in Chicago in 1967. Soon thereafter, Dr. Levitzky became certified in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics.
In recognition of her professional efforts, Dr. Levitzky has been recognized as a Top Doctor in the New York Metro Area by Castle Connolly between 1999 and 2008 as well as in 2010, 2013 and 2015. Additionally, she was presented with a Distinguished Service Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2002 and an Appreciation Award for more than 18 years of support from the UJA Federation of New York in 2016. Looking toward the future, Dr. Levitzky aims to continue with her exemplary efforts in her field, as she has no plans to retire.
