Samantha Cohn

Drawing on years of experience in complex civil litigation, Samantha B. Cohn, Esq., serves as a dedicated attorney at The Smith Law Center, where she has practiced since 2023. She specializes in personal injury cases involving brain and burn injuries, product liability, and auto defects. Known for her honest and straightforward approach, she is committed to ensuring every client’s case is prioritized, progresses efficiently, and receives the attention it deserves.

Ms. Cohn’s career is rooted in a strong academic foundation. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in history, with distinction, from Old Dominion University in 2011, followed by a Juris Doctorate in litigation from Shepard Broad College of Law at Nova Southeastern University in 2014. While in law school, she served as director of the Inter-American Center for Human Rights, a role modeled after the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. During this time, she also clerked for the city attorney of Hollywood from 2012 to 2014.

Ms. Cohn began her professional practice at Chaplin & Gonet, where she served as an attorney from 2016 to 2021 and gained a reputation for her commitment to justice. She then joined Geoff McDonald & Associates as a civil litigation attorney, where she practiced from 2022 to 2023 before assuming her current role.

In addition to her professional commitments, Ms. Cohn has been an active member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association since 2021, joined the National Trial Lawyers Association in 2023, and was welcomed into the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys in 2025. Moreover, she has been recognized as a Gold Member of the Pro Bono Honor Society for her dedication to service.

In light of her impressive undertakings, Ms. Cohn has earned several accolades, including being named among the Top 25 Motor Vehicle Trial Lawyers and Top 25 Women Trial Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers from 2024 to 2025. She was also selected for their Top 40 Under 40 list in 2023 and 2024.

Ms. Cohn attributes her success to her authenticity and commitment to staying true to herself, a quality she believes makes her both relatable and effective. She also credits her strong sense of morality and ethics as the foundation for how she approaches every case and professional relationship. For her, success is not defined by one standout moment, but by everyday wins like helping a client get what they deserve or earning a jury’s trust.

In her personal time, Ms. Cohn enjoys exploring new restaurants, practicing yoga, and traveling with her family. She and her husband Joshua are raising three sons, ages nine, seven, and two. Despite being spread out geographically, her family remains close-knit, always coming together for major holidays and life events.

Looking ahead, Ms. Cohn aspires to become a partner at The Smith Law Center, expand her legal reach across jurisdictions, and deepen her expertise in complex litigation. She is also dedicated to mentoring interns and junior associates and raising her children to be kind, thoughtful contributors to the world around them.
