Fundamentally hardworking, dedicated, and positive, she is grateful for all her wins and looks forward to reaching even greater heights. Dr. Hammond-Murphy embarked on her professional journey in mass media communications and aspired to be an actress. After becoming the proud mother of three children, she decided that the life of a full-time actress would not fit with her family responsibilities and redirected her ambitions toward a more accommodating field. Eventually, she explored telecommunications and transitioned into information technology, in which she established a thriving and fulfilling career. Although she already possessed leadership abilities, Dr. Hammond-Murphy stayed humble, worked to learn from the captains of industry, took notes, and remained persistent through challenges. Applying her assertive, results-driven approach, she developed a reputation for exuding confidence, foreshadowing her future milestones and accomplishments as an executive and entrepreneur.

In 1994, Dr. Hammond-Murphy started out as a consultant with Verizon, where she spent nearly a decade holding the roles of contractor and proposal manager before departing in 2003. From 2003 to 2007, she was a consultant, project manager, and contractor for the Bank of America Corporation, after which she began working for TEKsystems Inc. as a consultant, contractor, technical delivery manager, and senior portfolio manager. In 2010, she became a senior technical delivery manager, consultant, and contractor for Technisource. After securing experience as a senior information technology project manager with TEKsystems Inc. from 2010 to 2011, Dr. Hammond-Murphy accepted the role of information technology director in the Catawba Valley Medical Center’s project management office. Steadily rising through the ranks in her industry, she began accepting executive roles, including as an executive contractor, consultant, and advisor for Apex Systems in 2018. Alongside all her extensive experience, she focused on building Giorgham Trademark into the thriving business it is today, working tirelessly to make her entrepreneurial dream a reality.

Dr. Hammond-Murphy laid the foundation for her pursuits at Washington Saturday College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in mass media communications in 1996. In 2002, she completed a Master of Science in project management at The George Washington University School of Business. After a decade of work experience, Dr. Hammond-Murphy remained committed to her professional development and education, returning to academia at the University of Phoenix and earning a Bachelor of Science in information technology in 2012. Two years later, she graduated from Western Carolina University with a Master of Science in project management, and in 2018, she completed her Doctor of Philosophy in information systems management at Capella University.

Outside of her primary career pursuits, Dr. Hammond-Murphy has traversed a deeply spiritual journey throughout her life. Since her teenage years, she felt a calling to serve the Lord in a profound way, and through her dedication to teaching and guiding others, she found her path and salvation. Her aim is to emphasize the importance of the divine rather than seeking personal recognition, and to this end, she studied at the Christian Bible Institute & Seminary, where she earned a doctorate in pedagogy in 2024.

Looking ahead, Dr. Hammond-Murphy plans to expand her company and step back from executive duties to allow someone else to represent the business while she turns her attention to other endeavors. She hopes to invest in countries that need financial assistance and is excited about the road ahead personally and professionally. She is eager to share her knowledge through speaking engagements and believes there are abundant possibilities awaiting the next generation. Dr. Hammond-Murphy is committed to helping burgeoning individuals seize these opportunities to begin building their careers.
