REBECCA A. O'MAHONEY

Rebecca O'Mahoney

Initially, Rebecca A. O’Mahoney joined the U.S. Army because she wanted something to do; this was pre-9/11 and she wanted to be adventurous. She fell in love with it and became really good at it. She had to transition into the real world, so she decided to get a coaching and psychology degree not only to help herself, but her fellow military and enforcement. Ms. O’Mahoney was a master sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1998 until her retirement in April 2020. Since 2015, she has also been an internal investigator with the New York State Justice Center. In this role, she is responsible for questioning/interrogation, and investigating allegations of abuse and/or neglect for those vulnerable people. Additionally, as an expert in human behavior and habit change, she serves as an independent life coach, as well as the co-owner of the Seven Eagle Group, a staffing service through which she helps people, specifically veterans, get cyber training from an Australian company for entry-level job placement. She is also planning on working as a part-owner with other staffing businesses.

While continuing her professional career, Ms. O’Mahoney pursued a formal education at the University of Phoenix, where she attained a Bachelor of Science in 2014. She is further a certified life and health coach. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and coaching soccer for the Monroe Woodbury Soccer League, as well as dressing up as Mrs. Claus every Christmas season in Utica, New York. Ms. O’Mahoney is the proud mother of two boys, ages 9 and 6, respectively.

Ms. O’Mahoney feels she has grown a lot throughout her career. She felt that she was innocent starting out, not knowing enough as she joined the military in high school. She was put into many positions where she needed to uphold a more “masculine” role, which she still finds herself falling into at times today; she is currently working on overriding what has been indoctrinated into her. What has inspired and motivated Ms. O’Mahoney throughout her life was her diagnosis with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following her service, finding herself needing to take a step back for her health. She ended up doing coaching more for herself, collaborating with one of her close friends.

Ms. O’Mahoney takes pride in helping people who may have not been able to help themselves. She sees what she does as “building civilians,” providing individualized plans for her clients. Moving forward, she hopes to expand her business, feeling she can learn more about cyber training. Ultimately, Ms. O’Mahoney would like to start a nonprofit giving financial support for veterans, since many do not qualify for organizational memberships if they were not in combat. Ideally, she would focus on female veterans
