Nisha Clinkscale always knew she wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. She first became involved in health care by working in nursing homes, inspired by her aunt, who was a nurse. Ms. Clinkscale would later return to school, and upon receiving her diploma in medical billing and coding from Virginia College in 2011, she secured her first medical-related job shortly thereafter. She took great joy in learning about all the systems and details of the field, which confirmed that she made the right choice.

Fast forward to 2020, when Ms. Clinkscale became the owner of her thriving company, Heavenly Ink Credentialing LLC, which she runs today and points to as her crowning professional achievement so far. She is grateful for opportunities to use her platform to encourage others who work in or hope to join the industry. For her career accomplishments, Ms. Clinkscale was named a Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owner. In 2023, the Worldwide Women’s Association recognized her for credentialing in North America, and in 2022, Heavenly Ink Credentialing LLC was named to the 100 Best Businesses on the Coast.

Ascribing her success to the mentorship she received from her prior employers, Ms. Clinkscale says the hands-on experience she gained during her career is invaluable. To pass along her knowledge and offer resources to others, she has published a comprehensive credentialing guide for everyday providers who seek to launch their own companies. In the guide, Ms. Clinkscale details the entire credentialing process. Before launching her own business, she learned the ins and outs of the business by working as a billing and credentialing manager for A&L Medical Billing Services from 2018 to 2019. She also secured key experience as a KAFB contract coder with A&L Medical Billing Services from 2017 to 2023.

Alongside maintaining her business and creating professional resources, Ms. Clinkscale contributes her time to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, where she has been a member since 2020. Additionally, for three years, she served as the vice president of her local chapter of the AAPC, America’s biggest medical coding training and certification association. When advising and motivating aspiring medical billing and coding professionals, Ms. Clinkscale tells them that the field requires significant work, detail-oriented focus, and mountains of paperwork, yet is all worth it because it is a rewarding career rife with opportunities. Looking forward to expanding her reach and expertise, she plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in human resources.
