MIRIAM KOVE

Backed by more than two decades of professional excellence, Miriam Kove continues to thrive as a psychotherapist in New York. She specializes in child psychotherapy, and is dedicated to correcting misconceptions about children and parenting. She believes that showing people the truth will help them develop a better understanding about what kids need to have a healthy sense of worth and self-esteem. Prior to her own private practice, Ms. Kove served as a faculty supervisor, clinician, and psychotherapist at New Hope Guild Center, a director of the daycare on-site therapy program at C.I.S. Counseling Center, an intake director and clinician at the Institutes of Religion and Health, an adjunct early childhood lecturer at a community college in Brooklyn, N.Y., and an early childhood teacher at Emanuel Nursery School. She also taught at various public schools in Montreal, Canada, and has maintained a role as an actress in New York City since 1962.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Kove earned a Master of Social Work at Adelphi University in 1983, a certification in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the New Hope Guild in 1979, a Master of Arts in early childhood at Hunter College in 1975, and a Bachelor of Arts in English literature at Sir George Williams University in 1962. She then joined prominent professional organizations like the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work, the Steering Committee of the New Hope Graduate Society, and the Education Committee of the Society for Clinical Social Work Psychotherapists. She is a fellow of the National Organization Social Work. To share her knowledge, Ms. Kove authored “When Love is Not Enough” and “Myths and Madness.”

Ms. Kove’s hard work and dedication has not gone unnoticed. She received many accolades over the years, including the Hebrew Prize from Sir George Williams University and recommendation for the English Prize at Concordia University. Further, she was honored with inclusion in numerous volumes of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who Among Human Services Professionals, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the East.

In her community, Ms. Kove supports People for the American Way and the Warsaw Gathering of Holocaust Survivors.
