Who's Who of Professional Women

MEGHAN MARILYN KENNEDY

Meghan KennedyNaturally creative, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator, Meghan Marilyn Kennedy found her passion for interior design after accepting a student job managing the fabric library at the University of Bridgeport. During her sophomore year, she was given the chance to work with an architect who was making the transition to interior design, seeing herself reflected in the process, and in 2019, Ms. Kennedy graduated from the University of Bridgeport with a Bachelor of Science in interior design, magna cum laude. She began her career working with a kitchen and bath designer who she recalls “taught her a lot about the business,” becoming an expert in AutoCAD, DraftSight, designing with Adobe CC applications, and even hand-drafting floor plans and interior sketches in the process.

Currently, Ms. Kennedy is an interior design assistant at Natalie Weinstein Design Associates, an award-winning and established Long Island-based firm known for its exterior and commercial work in addition to creating beautiful, dynamic residential spaces. As an assistant to the firm, Ms. Kennedy supports other designers in the process of assessing client areas, creating floor plans, and selecting and ordering the furniture and finishings to make them a reality. She proudly notes that in early 2020, she managed her first solo client through the firm, designing a backyard pool oasis scheduled for construction in the spring of 2021.

With just two years in the business, Ms. Kennedy is already an award-winning designer, taking third place in the Visibility: Creating Inclusive Communities Design Contest, and her work has been featured in New York Metro Design Magazine. She is a member of the New York Metro chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers, and looks forward to continuing to build her personal brand in the coming years, crediting her success to her determination, perseverance, and passion for the work. When not creating dream homes for clients, Ms. Kennedy is an avid traveler and a talented cook who enjoys crochet and other fiber crafts. She lives by the philosophy that it is never too late to chase your dreams or set new goals, and she hopes to one day open an independent bed and breakfast.
