Mary Platt

Mary F. Platt, Esq., has served as of counsel at Fineman, Krekstein & Harris, PC since 2014. During her career, she has represented corporate clients in a variety of matters involving contract claims, shareholder and partner disputes, attorney malpractice claims, toxic tort claims, product liability claims, antitrust claims, intellectual property, insurance coverage, trade secrets and restrictive covenants. She has extensive experience working on individual cases, as well as class actions pending before state and federal trial and appellate courts, and has represented individuals and companies across many industries, including pharmaceutical, software, chemical, oil and gas, and real estate. Ms. Platt also has experience serving as a mediator. As a judge pro tem in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Commerce Court program since 2005, she holds settlement conferences at the request of commerce court judges.

Before serving as of counsel at Fineman, Krekstein & Harris PC, Ms. Platt was an attorney at Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads, LLP in Philadelphia for 31 years, during which time she was an equity partner for 22 years, served as vice chair of the Litigation Department, and was a member of the firm’s professional responsibility committee and technology committee. From 2010 to 2014, Ms. Platt also served as of counsel and chair of the complex litigation and alternative dispute resolution practice group at Griesing Law, LLC in Philadelphia.

Ms. Platt was chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association in 2018, and served as chancellor-elect in 2017 and vice chancellor in 2016 after her election in 2015. She formerly served as treasurer and assistant treasurer of the Philadelphia Bar Association, chair of the Law Practice Management Division, and chair of the federal courts, city policy and women in profession committees. She also served on the association’s board of governors for 17 years. Known for her dedication to advancing the rights of women and girls, she was a member of the board of trustees of the Women’s Law Project from 1997 to 2012, a nonprofit organization that focuses on advancing the rights of women and girls. Ms. Platt is also a member of the Forum of Executive Women, the American Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association, from which she received a Special Achievement Award in 1999 and has served as a member of its house of delegates since 2015.

Ms. Platt earned an undergraduate degree, cum laude, at Mount Holyoke College in 1974 and received the College’s Alumnae Achievement Award in 2019. She received a JD degree, cum laude, at Georgetown University Law Center in 1979. Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third and Seventh Circuits, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, and the Supreme Court of the United States, she has been named an A/V rated preeminent attorney by Martindale-Hubbell every year since 1995, was named to Pennsylvania Super Lawyers from 2006 to 2007 and from 2012 to the present, and was named to Smart CEO Legal Elite in 2011 and 2012. Ms. Platt received the Philadelphia Business Journal Women of Distinction Award in 2019 and has been cited in the eighth edition of Who’s Who in American Law.
