Martha Crawford, PhD, has built a career defined by strategic insight, global impact, and a commitment to advancing technologies that shape a more sustainable future. In her current portfolio of leadership roles, she works as an independent director for GHD in Sydney, Aries Clean Technologies, and Houston American Energy Corporation. She also sits on the board of advisors for SANEXEN and contributes actively as a board director for Blink Charging Co., where she participates in board and committee meetings, coaches executives, and conducts field visits to deepen her understanding of operational performance. Her work reflects a hands-on approach that balances strategic oversight with real-world engagement. 

Dr. Crawford’s academic preparation laid the groundwork for her extensive work in science and business. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in chemical and environmental engineering from Harvard University after completing a Master of Science in the same discipline. She also holds a Master of Business Administration in strategy and finance from Collège des Ingénieurs in Paris and has completed a certificate in business excellence with an emphasis on venture capital and private equity finance from Columbia University Business School. This broad educational foundation, grounded in both technical rigor and financial strategy, shaped her ability to bridge scientific innovation with practical business applications. 

Dr. Crawford continues to advance clean energy initiatives through her work with Terra Innovatum, where she contributed to the launch of modular microreactors designed for sustainable energy production. As an operating partner at Macquarie Group Limited, she applies her expertise in private equity to support portfolio companies, advise leadership teams, and guide investments that align environmental responsibility with long-term growth. She also serves on boards affiliated with both Macquarie and Blue Wolf Capital, underscoring her commitment to responsible governance and scalable innovation.   

As chief executive officer of ESG-FIN LLC, Dr. Crawford leads efforts to integrate environmental, social, and governance strategies into financial decision-making. Her career has also included influential directorships at SUEZ and Altran, as well as a teaching role at Harvard Business School, where she taught strategy and leadership using the Socratic method. Her earlier professional experience includes serving on the board at Ipsen Pharmaceuticals and holding senior research leadership roles at Orano and Air Liquide. Before entering the corporate sector, she worked at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, focusing on environmental policy and performance. Her early career began as an advisor to the general manager at RMIEPA, the foundation for her lifelong commitment to environmental responsibility and economic development. 

Throughout her career, Dr. Crawford has been recognized for her entrepreneurial influence, including her co-founding of Ariva Med, a company that developed a cancer-targeting treatment utilizing radioactive isotopes. She has helped build organizations that create jobs, expand access to technology, and generate meaningful societal impact. Her professional associations include the National Association of Corporate Directors and Women Corporate Directors, with chapters in both New York City and Boston.

Dr. Crawford’s civic involvement includes service on the Kearney Energy Transition Institute board, the Harvard Business Review advisory council and the Health Effects Institute. She has also contributed to several international research and governance organizations, further demonstrating her commitment to advancing science and societal well-being. Her contributions were formally recognized when she was named a Dame of the French National Order of Merit. Her career continues to reflect a blend of innovation, leadership, and global stewardship, qualities that have firmly established her as a leader in the movement toward sustainable progress.
