LUZ ANGELA LOPEZ

Luz Angela Lopez, MD, is a board-certified family medicine practitioner seeing patients at Ohana Kids and Family Kare since 2019. Becoming a doctor was Dr. Lopez’ lifelong goal: she remembers playing doctor and trying to “fix” small injuries as a child, and by the age of ten, she knew she wanted to study medicine. She earned her Doctor of Medicine in 1992 at Montemorelos University and began her career the following year in a small family medicine clinic in Mexico. Dr. Lopez continued to practice in Mexico until 2001, when she relocated to Arizona and opened Kids Kare Pediatrics and Family Kare, PC, an independent practice where she continued to focus on family medicine and pediatrics.

Dr. Lopez pursued continuing professional education in the United States, completing an internship in family practice medicine through the Bella Vista Family Residence Program in 2002 and a residency at the Phoenix Baptist Hospital Family Medical Center in 2004. She became certified by the American Board of Family Practice the same year, adding to her existing ECFMG certification and license to perform certified immigration physicals and medical assessments. Dr. Lopez remained the head of Kids Kare Pediatrics and Family Kare, PC until 2019, when she left the practice to accept her current position at Ohana Kids and Family Kare, where she acts as a clinic manager and supervisor in addition to providing compassionate and high-quality patient care.

In recognition of her commitment to her patients and to continuing her growth as a practitioner, Dr. Lopez has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career, including being named a “Heartfelt Physician” by Phoenix Latino Perspective Magazine and listed as a Top Doctor, a Top Woman in Medicine, and a Top Medical Practitioner by Women in Medicine. She is a member of the American Association of Physicians and the American Academy of Family Practice, and has presented on pediatric care and outcomes for premature infants with low birth weights. Dr. Lopez attributes her success to her faith and her dedication to chasing her dreams and becoming the best provider she can be, and she strives to pass her skills on by taking annual medical mission trips to underserved communities in Africa.
