Her responsibilities also include addressing customer concerns and ensuring exceptional service standards are met. Under her leadership, Tipsy Salon & Spa was voted as the number one spa in Jupiter, a testament to her management expertise and dedication to quality.
Ms. Lieu’s approach to her business emphasizes gathering feedback from regular customers to refine their services and craft an environment that caters to diverse preferences. Her willingness to adapt based on client input has contributed significantly to the salon’s success. Ms. Lieu continues to thrive as a result of her hands-on involvement and genuine investment in every task, fostering trust among both clients and colleagues.
In addition to her efforts at Tipsy Salon & Spa, Ms. Lieu opened Saigon Sandwich in Palm Beach Gardens eight months ago. The restaurant was established to address the limited availability of Vietnamese cuisine in the area and features dishes reminiscent of her childhood in Vietnam. Saigon Sandwich quickly gained popularity after a positive customer review led to increased demand, with bread and soup selling out for several consecutive weeks. Through this venture, Ms. Lieu shares her heritage with the community while responding directly to customer preferences.
Ms. Lieu has also found success as the director of finance at the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association in Fairfax, Virginia since 2001. In this capacity, she has managed financial operations for more than two decades, demonstrating expertise in management and negotiations. Ms. Lieu’s ability to balance this position while launching new businesses highlights her organizational skills and resilience.
From 2003 to 2025, Ms. Lieu worked as an associate broker at Long & Foster Real Estate. She entered the real estate sector during a period of significant market activity, working part-time while maintaining her full-time finance role at the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association for seven to eight years. This experience broadened her understanding of homeownership and provided valuable insights into property transactions. As a member of the Fairfax Association Broker, Ms. Lieu maintained her involvement in industry-related organizations throughout her real estate career.
Ms. Lieu’s academic background includes earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and finance from Trinity Washington University in 1999. Her education provided a strong foundation for her subsequent roles in finance, business ownership and management. While attending college, Ms. Lieu balanced full-time studies with employment at USA Today, gaining early exposure to professional environments and developing skills that would serve her throughout her career.
Ms. Lieu’s decision to pursue entrepreneurship was influenced by both personal experiences and market research. After relocating from Virginia to Florida with her husband and daughters due to anticipated changes following Amazon’s move to Arlington, she identified an opportunity in the nail salon industry after receiving unsatisfactory service locally. Drawing on her accounting background and research into industry profitability, Ms. Lieu acquired Tipsy Salon & Spa during the COVID-19 pandemic and successfully expanded its staff to nearly 30 employees.
Throughout her life, Ms. Lieu has demonstrated a commitment to supporting both her foster parents and biological family by providing opportunities they might not have otherwise had. She purchased an F-250 truck for her father and sponsored family members’ immigration to the United States, helping them establish successful lives in Virginia.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Ms. Lieu is actively involved in civic organizations and volunteer work. She has contributed as a volunteer with the Annadel Fire Department and served on the administration board at Marymount College. Additionally, she provided pro bono tax services for low-income families through the Internal Revenue Service Voluntary Disclosure Practice program.
Ms. Lieu’s professional journey is further distinguished by notable achievements such as decorating the White House for Christmas during the Obama administration, which reflects her creativity and attention to detail. Her accomplishments have been further recognized through features in Stuart Magazine and Best of Jupiter Magazine. Tipsy Salon & Spa was highlighted in the “Best of Issue 2025,” reflecting its positive reputation within the community.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Lieu hopes to support her children as they begin their own careers while traveling throughout the country performing missionary work to share her faith. She also dreams of owning a flower shop where she can bring happiness to others through floral arrangements. Ms. Lieu attributes her success to hard work, honesty and humility, values instilled by both personal experience and faith which have guided her through each stage of her journey from Vietnam to establishing herself as a respected entrepreneur in Florida’s business community.
