Lara Oliveira

Lara Oliveira found success as an accountant until 2019 when she learned about electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) training, which had recently received U.S. Food & Drug Administration approval. Seeing this advancement as an opportunity, she left her accounting job to launch her own business. In 2020, she founded and became the chief executive officer of SmartFit. The career change has quickly paid off, including with recognition. After a few years, Ms. Oliveira’s business has been awarded Best Fitness Center in the City of Alpharetta, Georgia, in 2023 and 2024.

Seeking more flexibility and the option to spend valuable time with her three children, Ms. Oliveira is proud of establishing SmartFit, her most gratifying professional achievement. The business is the first EMS studio in Georgia, offering effective and efficient technology to promote wellness in a modern, fast-paced environment. She has her future sights set on expanding her existing spaces and her company’s franchising program with the goal of owning at least 20 store buildings across the East Coast and eventually nationwide. Ms. Oliveira is excited about the prospect of SmartFit’s continued growth as demand for and awareness of EMS technology develops.

Having an extensive and accomplished accounting background has been an asset for Ms. Oliveira, who also has invaluable experience in a variety of skill areas, is highly motivated, and is excellent at problem-solving and multitasking. Among her colleagues and professional network, her attention to detail and dedication to her work are well-known. From 2006 to 2008, Ms. Oliveira was active as a staff accountant with Art Rock Creations, and from 2008 to 2012, she was a finance manager with USA Granite Inc. Prior to chasing her entrepreneurial aspirations, she worked as an accountant for SEDC from 2014 to 2019.

Ms. Oliveira prepared for her career in accounting and business at Kennesaw State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in 2009. In 2013, she earned a Master of Business Administration in finance from the American Public University System. Known for her perseverance and quick learning, Ms. Oliveira achieved another goal, becoming a certified personal trainer.
