Karen Kyman has built a remarkable career marked by leadership, resilience, and a dedication to fostering excellence. Starting as a schoolteacher at Fairplay Elementary School, she earned a lifetime teacher’s certificate and developed a passion for education and community service that would shape her professional journey. Her early career instilled in her the principles of integrity, collaboration, and perseverance, which became the cornerstones of her later success.
Ms. Kyman’s academic foundation, a Bachelor of Science in education with a minor in special education from Southwest Baptist University, provided the skills and knowledge that propelled her forward. Her educational background prepared her for teaching and equipped her to lead and innovate in a completely different field: the broadcasting industry. She credits her education with helping her establish the strong work ethic and adaptability needed to thrive in a male-dominated industry.
In 1993, Ms. Kyman co-founded Precision Communications with her husband, entering the TV broadcast industry to maintain and repair TV towers and antennas. Her husband’s prior experience in the field inspired the venture, and together, they built a company recognized for its reliability and commitment to excellence. Following her husband’s passing in 2013, Ms. Kyman assumed full business leadership, navigating challenges with skill and determination. She expanded the company’s success, all while cultivating a workplace culture she believed was essential to its achievements. As one of the few women leading a company in this industry, she gained widespread respect for her vision and leadership.
Ms. Kyman’s work extended beyond running the company. After selling Precision Communications in 2020, she served as a board member and consultant. Her involvement with the Advisory Committee of the NATE Family Tower Foundation demonstrated her commitment to supporting industry standards and advancing workforce development. Her insights and experiences have also been shared through speaking engagements and featured in multiple books, where she inspires others with her journey.
Rooted in the values her parents instilled in her—honesty, integrity, and customer satisfaction—Ms. Kyman balanced her professional endeavors with community service. She actively volunteers with nonprofit organizations, including those supporting initiatives in Haiti. Her love for outdoor activities, such as fishing, hunting, and golfing, showcases her ability to find joy and balance outside work.
Currently, Ms. Kyman is writing a book to encourage others to persevere and succeed. Through her storytelling, she aims to inspire people to build positive, healthy work environments and embrace the challenges and rewards of leadership. Her legacy is one of determination, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to making a difference, professionally and personally.
