
Juliana Marques is a lawyer admitted to practice law in California, a certified public accountant (CPA), and a seasoned expert in taxation and international tax planning with more than 15 years of experience advising global companies. As senior tax principal for Airbnb Inc., the world’s leading platform for unique accommodations, curated experiences, and travel services, Ms. Marques drives the company’s international tax strategy, compliance, and planning initiatives. In addition, she shapes Airbnb’s global structure and leads its Live and Work Anywhere Program, which offers employees flexibility regarding their work location.
Ms. Marques manages the international tax implications of new business initiatives, regularly engages with corporate peers, and seeks input from other leading technology companies to remain at the forefront of industry developments. She is co-chair of Airbnb’s D&B education and development committee. She also participates in Pipeline Angels, a network of women investors supporting women-led and non-binary-led startups, where she contributes to funding decisions and mentoring entrepreneurs. Prior to her current role, Ms. Marques spent nearly a decade as a senior tax associate at Baker McKenzie from 2012 to 2021 and worked for Praxair, now Linde PLC, as a tax accountant from 2007 to 2009.
Well-educated and credentialed, Ms. Marques earned an Associate of Science in business management from Naugatuck Valley Community College in 2005. After garnering experience as a tax intern, she completed a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting, magna cum laude, at Western Connecticut State University in 2007. Notably, she was the vice president and editor for the Western Connecticut State University Accounting Society, and an associate editor and submissions committee member for the Berkeley Journal of International Law. Throughout her academic journey, Ms. Marques remained committed to gaining practical experience, working as a summer associate and intern with Hildebrand, Mariano & Rathje in 2010, a summer associate in Spain with a firm specializing in European Union business matters, and a summer associate and intern with Baker McKenzie in 2011. In 2012, Ms. Marques graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Juris Doctor in business and international law. Following this achievement, she was admitted to practice law in the state of California.
Ms. Marques is an active and prolific contributor to publications in her industry. In 2021, she co-authored “Will Pillar 1 Gain Impetus and Reach a Consensus-Based Solution in 2021?” on the Baker McKenzie Blog, and in 2018, she co-authored “Brazilian Interest on Equity After U.S. Tax Reform” in Volume 47 of Bloomberg Tax’s Tax Management International Journal, to name just a couple of her published works – having shared her expertise in numerous journal articles, papers, and presentations. As a sought-after voice in taxation, she is a host and moderator for events in Silicon Valley and participates in various tax law and tax policy panels. Moreover, Ms. Marques has been featured in Marquis’ Millennium Magazine, was recognized in 2024 as one of ALPFA’s Latinas to Watch, and in 2025, was named to Executive Woman Magazine’s Power 100 List for her leadership and professional achievements.
For her professional excellence, Ms. Marques received multiple awards from Western Connecticut State University, including the Business School Dean’s Award in 2007 and the Connecticut Society of CPAs Award in 2006. She was also named to the Dean’s List at Western Connecticut State. To stay on top of and contribute to developments in her field, she has maintained membership in the International Fiscal Association’s Northern California Chapter, the Association of Latino Professionals for America, the American Bar Association, the California Society of CPAs, and the State Bar of California.
Outside of her primary roles, Ms. Marques is the founder of an expanding real estate family business specializing in short- and long-term rentals, creating welcoming spaces that foster connection and memorable experiences for guests. Further, she is pursuing a certificate in interior design from The Interior Design Institute and a certificate in sound meditation from Breath + Oneness.
Ms. Marques plans to continue advancing her career with Airbnb, growing her real estate portfolio, investing in underrepresented founders, and making a positive impact on the communities she serves. In her leisure time, she enjoys spending time with her family and kids, hosting, listening to music, and reading about interior design.
