Recognized for visionary leadership and a steadfast commitment to advancing integrative health, Judith Mackey has distinguished herself in healthcare consulting and wellness entrepreneurship. Since 2013, she has served as the co-owner of the Garden of the Gods Resort & Club, where she has been a long-standing member since the 1980s. Recognizing the property’s potential when it became available for acquisition, Ms. Mackey collaborated with her business partner Brenda Smith to develop a plan to transform the historic site into a holistic destination resort. Ms. Mackey has also held the position of partner since 2016 for Vermilion at Garden of the Gods, where she provides strategic leadership to guide the long-term vision, growth and impact of this part of the Garden of the Gods community. Her efforts focus on strengthening community partnerships and stakeholder relationships to preserve the legacy and cultural significance of the property while overseeing enhancements, renovations and guest experience initiatives.
In 2015, Ms. Mackey also became a partner at the Strata Integrated Wellness Spa, a core element in realizing her vision for Garden of the Gods as a center where individuals could access integrative care options. In this capacity, she has driven the development of holistic wellness programs, services and destination experiences aligned with the organization’s missions and values. Recognizing that many holistic therapies were not covered by insurance, Ms. Mackey meticulously organized and analyzed data over several years, ultimately persuading major insurance providers to cover a significant portion of Strata’s services. Approximately 65 percent of the location’s offerings are now covered by health insurance, improving access for many individuals through partnerships with leading organizations such as Kaiser Permanente, United Healthcare and UMR. The organization has also expanded its presence with a second spa location in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and plans to continue growing along the Front Range.
Further showcasing her dedication to integrative healthcare, Ms. Mackey has been the president and chief executive officer of HealthYouLLC since 2011. In this role, she partners with mission-aligned vendors and brands to deliver purpose-driven wellness products and services while expanding strategic partnerships with industry leaders to advance cutting-edge integrative healthcare initiatives.
A foundation for Ms. Mackey’s leadership can be found in her earlier tenure as president and chief executive officer of the Benefit Services Group from 2007 to 2014. During this time, she gained invaluable insights into insurance industry operations after her previous company was acquired by Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Ms. Mackey’s expertise in healthcare consulting is complemented by her strong organizational skills and structured approach to leadership. Her disciplined work style was shaped by her early exposure to time management tools through the Dale Carnegie and FranklinCovey programs. Ms. Mackey’s educational background includes an associate’s degree in radiology technology from Colorado State University Pueblo (formerly the University of Southern Colorado) in 1977. Although she initially aspired to become a medical doctor, circumstances redirected her path toward entrepreneurship. Nevertheless, her training in Western medicine combined with personal experience managing a chronic medical condition led her to explore Eastern healing philosophies — a journey that inspired her lifelong commitment to providing alternative care options.
Equally known for her contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Ms. Mackey demonstrates care and service extending well beyond her business endeavors. She serves on the boards of Goodwill of Colorado and the Pikes Peak Community Foundation and participates in the Titans of Economic Development Council for the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC, as well as CommonSpirit Health community projects. Ms. Mackey assisted as a committee member for both the 2008 and 2018 U.S. Senior Open events and has performed additional committee work with the American Cancer Society and March of Dimes. Her past board memberships include roles with the Girls Scouts of Colorado, Goodwill Industries International, the Mass Marketing Insurance Institute, Rocky Mountain Concours d’Elegance, the Pikes Peak Chapter of The American National Red Cross, the Children’s Museum of Northern Colorado and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Chancellor Program.
Ms. Mackey has garnered significant recognition for her achievements. Most notably, she received a Top Women in Colorado Business Award from ColoradoBiz in 2025. Ms. Mackey attributes her accomplishments to strong faith, resilience and a conviction in something greater than herself that has fostered perseverance. She credits much of her success to surrounding herself with passionate individuals who share her vision.
Outside of her career, Ms. Mackey is a devoted wife and a loving mother to one daughter and grandmother to three grandchildren. She enjoys spending her time playing golf and tennis, biking, sailing, exercising, reading and spending time outdoors.
