Jessica Vlossak, LPC, has established a successful and storied career in mental health. Today, the licensed professional counselor excels as the chief executive officer and founder of Manchester, New Jersey-based Emerging Wellness LLC, a mental health practice dedicated to providing comprehensive counseling services for individuals, couples, and families, focusing on personalized care and emotional well-being. In her role, Ms. Vlossak is dedicated to delivering mental health services, overseeing clinical coordination, advocating for quality care, and networking with institutions to expand outreach. She is highly regarded for her specialized training in eating disorders and dialectical behavioral therapy. Additionally, she and her team collaborate with local school districts to raise awareness about the services her company offers.

Ms. Vlossak has also embarked on a new role as program director at GenPsych, where she is in charge of an intensive outpatient mental health program for adults and children. Her experience in the field has also spanned diverse roles, such as crisis intervention specialist at Preferred Behavioral Health Group and therapist positions at GenPsych. Further, she is active in civic organizations as a volunteer at a church food bank and Helping Hands, a member of the American Counseling Association, and more.

Ms. Vlossak’s solid educational background includes earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and a master’s degree in professional counseling from Liberty University. Ms. Vlossak’s journey as a woman and a minority of South Korean descent has been shaped by resilience. The rise of anti-Asian sentiment during COVID-19 deeply impacted her, as did overcoming a brain tumor at age 25, which left her with chronic pain. Despite these struggles, she has channeled her experiences into a commitment to helping others. She considers her most significant achievement to be her role as program director at GenPsych, where she managed her own site, trained emerging clinicians, and ensured smooth operations. Another pivotal moment in her career involved a crisis management situation with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency, where she faced the emotional toll of a tragic case, which underscored the challenges of mental health and child protection work, solidifying her dedication to making a meaningful impact in her field.

Ms. Vlossak believes her dedication to being present, compassionate, and hardworking sets her apart in the mental health field. While she acknowledges that others share similar missions of accessibility and support, she is focused on building a team that embodies these values and prioritizes clients’ well-being, even guiding them to other resources if her services are not the best fit. Looking ahead, Ms. Vlossak plans to expand Emerging Wellness LLC statewide and nationally, offering accessible telehealth and in-person care. She is launching substance abuse and general mental health programs, creating tracks for trauma and couples therapy, and incorporating holistic approaches like somatic movement and life coaching. Her goal is to ensure operational success, support her team and family, and provide impactful care to those in need.

Ms. Vlossak attributes her success to her tenacity, ambition, authenticity, compassion, and integrity. Guided by the values instilled by her parents, she remains committed to personal growth and doing her best work, regardless of the challenges she faces. She is also deeply grateful for the opportunities that have allowed her to expand her horizons and make a meaningful impact.

When she is not at work, Ms. Vlossak enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also finds fulfillment in attending concerts and festivals, camping, drawing, painting, reading, meditating, and listening to music.
