Diversified in several career paths, Jenn Lyles has exemplified aptitude in communications, marketing, and entrepreneurship. First graduating magna cum laude from the University of North Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in journalism in 2011, she concurrently commenced her career in the journalism sector. From 2008 to 2010, she worked as a reporter for WHNT News 19 with Nexstar Media Inc. Ms. Lyles delved into the marketing industry shortly thereafter, having excelled as a communications and marketing director for the American Association of Cosmetology Schools from 2011 to 2014 and a marketing director for Bellus Academy from 2014 to 2018.
Notably, while working as a marketing director, Ms. Lyles witnessed much success. Several colleagues and clients approached her with inquiries about her performance in the field and how she could help them succeed. From there, she decided to establish her own program in career development and started traveling across the United States to speak publicly at events and conferences. Following this facet of her professional career, she was offered to take the helm of Beauty Schools Marketing Group, where she has remained the executive director since 2022. Congruent to this appointment, Ms. Lyles has been the president of the eponymous Lyles Inc. since 2013.
As the executive director of Beauty Schools Marketing Group, Ms. Lyles is responsible for accruing more leads and enrollments at the school. She single-handedly provides all communications for the business, including email campaigns and booking sales calls. As time progressed, she has also been provided opportunities to perform at speaking engagements and monthly webinars.
To remain abreast of developments in her industry, Ms. Lyles is a member of several pertinent organizations such as the American Association of Cosmetology Schools, where she has been a membership and events committee member since 2011. In addition, she was a marketing committee member at the Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce in Tennessee from 2020 to 2023. In light of her outstanding undertakings, Ms. Lyles has been honored with several accolades, including in 2016 when she was a finalist for the Hairbrained Video Awards and was named a runner-up for Best Beauty School Marketing by Modern Salon that same year. To celebrate her achievements, she was ultimately named Best Beauty School Marketing by Modern Salon in 2017.
Born in Canada, Ms. Lyles resides in Spring Hill, Tennessee. She is married to Nick and has two dogs, Babs and Bugsy. Outside of her vocational interests, she enjoys Pilates, walking, and watching movies. Ms. Lyles attributes much of her success to her inspiration to continue excelling in her career and to those who doubted her abilities. Although met with adversity along the way, she discovered her true passion for the field, which has further solidified her decision to remain in the industry. Moreover, she credits her willingness to accept every opportunity that comes her way as a factor in her success.
Reflecting on the many highlights in her life, Ms. Lyles has proudly persevered in all her ambitions with a sense of courage. Noting that her risk of establishing her own business was a huge success, she has since received countless calls to speak at events, enrollments in her workshops, and visits to her website. Moreover, she would like to write and publish a book tentatively titled “My Table Needs Napkins,” which will detail the lessons she learned while working in the restaurant and hospitality industries before transitioning to a corporate career. Ms. Lyles affirms that her experience in the restaurant sector shaped her into the woman she is today, having learned the value of hard work from a formative age and how to talk to others.
