A Reiki master teacher and shamanic practitioner, who lives and practices in Gilroy, California, Jeannie David utilizes her talents in order to heal people on an emotional, mental and spiritual level. In addition, she also performs attunements by channeling energy into her clients during a sacred ritual. This ritual includes a ceremony, which requires her to open the flow of energy within the body to allow the qi, or life force, to flow freely. When performing her craft with clients, Ms. David first utilizes her spirit guides to determine whether they require a clearing, card reading, crystal healing or, her specialty, soul retrieval, which is when she returns a part of the soul that was lost due to trauma.
Since her childhood, Ms. David has been driven to help people, but did not understand her calling until the early 2000s. After meeting a shaman, she began five years of intensive study, discovering that she had what were called “hot hands” for energy work, which became much more powerful and refined as a result of her recognition. Becoming a Reiki master teacher shortly thereafter, Ms. David began combining what she had learned in order to help others to facilitate their healing.
Shamanism is a practice that involves a practitioner reaching altered states of consciousness in order to perceive and interact with what they believe to be a spirit world, and channel these transcendental energies into this world. Meanwhile, Reiki is a form of alternative medicine called energy healing. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing, or hands-on healing, through which a universal energy is said to be transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing. Ms. David recognized her gift whilst in the second grade when she was able to see and hear her grandfather after he had passed away. As a self-identified, sensitive intuitive and empath, she has mediumship abilities that are explained as clairvoyant, clairaudient and clairsentient, which means she can see, hear and feel the emotions of spirits.
One of the keys to Ms. David’s success is that she is sensitive to the people that she works with. Through her understanding and empathy for her clients, she truly values the intimacy of her work. She is very thankful to her clients for the level of trust they put in her, which can be daunting at times. Nearly dying in 2004 after a terrible car accident and having to heal her own body, in which she suffered through 12 foot surgeries, Ms. David understands what many of her clients must endure.
In her avocational pursuits, Ms. David teaches as a red belt taekwondo instructor. She is also experienced in eskrima, the national sport and martial art of the Philippines. In 2012, she was named World Champion of the Eskrima Single and Double Stick. Ms. David attributes her success to having an open heart and integrity. If the work is not appropriate to do, she will not do it and she is very upfront about that with people.
